Quality of tracks depend on original source. Tracks from Gumnaam & Dharmatma are original long play records so one can hear scratches,
Do they really use LPs to make digital audio recordings?? May be recording studios don't have original recordings??
In that case, my LP stockpile is not just junk. Actually, a friend of mine sorted out a few LPs saying that these MP3s are not avail anywhere. If so, my LPs and LP playing equip is not really that bad. No static problem and many LPs not even played once.
Most of Saregama oldie collection comes from original LP/EP & SP records released years ago under HMV,EMI & Angel labels. Remember desi movie soundtracks didn't get upgraded to stereo until mid 70's. Although movie soundtrack on CD's says digital sound on it's CD cover it's not digital since the transfer source was analog. It's possible for analog recordings to sound better on CD but for that one must have original master tapes, lot of time and good amount of money to clean up the tracks for transferring them to CD and a really good recording system.
If you don't have money, get a good turntable, a digital recorder, gallons of record cleaning fluid and lot of time on you hands but remember even though you're transferring analog music to a digital recorder it's as good as it's source but never digital.
PS.............One can also record tracks from DVD to a CD recorder but remember you can burn it only in analog mode as it will not let you record the tracks on digital mode.
