Has anyone purchased music from this website, you pay $0.99- 0.69 per song for downloading hindi movie songs/remixes/Gazals from this site. Any feedback good/bad would be greatly appreciated.

Did try Crimson.bay, after some initials glitches i.e. problem with downloading some tracks thier customer service kicked in and resolved all the problems in a timely manner. Website is new & still building. They do have a large selction of tracks from 60's/70's/80's. All the tracks are from Saregama so the service is in collobration with Saregama. Will recommend for downloading Hindi music for peanuts $0.69-0.99.

... another site to try is http://www.emusic.com - they have all the sa re ga ma tracks and if you want to download a lot of tracks in one go it can work out cheaper. It's a subscription service but they had an introductory offer for 50 free MP3s with no obligation to buy further. I;ve used them for a couple of months and have no complaints so far! :D

Muz thanks for the info on emusic. Although their prices are much cheaper site wants your credit card info even before you download any tracks. Anyway thanks a lot.

Downloads at crimson bay are at 256 kbits/second. Quality of tracks depend on original source. Tracks from Gumnaam & Dharmatma are original long play records so one can hear scratches, remixed oldies I downloaded sound pretty good. Hope this helps.

Do they really use LPs to make digital audio recordings?? May be recording studios don't have original recordings??

In that case, my LP stockpile is not just junk. Actually, a friend of mine sorted out a few LPs saying that these MP3s are not avail anywhere. If so, my LPs and LP playing equip is not really that bad. No static problem and many LPs not even played once.

Very true! Too many songs have been recorded over the years and I doubt whether the original masters can be found for some of them, and even they do exist they most likely will be unplayable! So do hold on to those 78"s, 45's and LP's they are like gold!

Hard to imagine any vinyl to be static free after been in storage so long!

Most of Saregama oldie collection comes from original LP/EP & SP records released years ago under HMV,EMI & Angel labels. Remember desi movie soundtracks didn't get upgraded to stereo until mid 70's. Although movie soundtrack on CD's says digital sound on it's CD cover it's not digital since the transfer source was analog. It's possible for analog recordings to sound better on CD but for that one must have original master tapes, lot of time and good amount of money to clean up the tracks for transferring them to CD and a really good recording system.

If you don't have money, get a good turntable, a digital recorder, gallons of record cleaning fluid and lot of time on you hands but remember even though you're transferring analog music to a digital recorder it's as good as it's source but never digital.

PS.............One can also record tracks from DVD to a CD recorder but remember you can burn it only in analog mode as it will not let you record the tracks on digital mode.
