I got my dvds from IW today they all seem to play fine no problems- but are they pirates? it seems like the pictures on the disc are copied and the packaging is not original- do IW dell pirated copies of the original dvd?

Maahiya,

What dvds did you buy? I know what you mean by the pictures on the dvd to be copied. Have you see any INDIAN dvd that has genuine dvd picture on the DVD? if so, please name them.

I didn't understand what you mean packagin not original. Can you explain that a bit in details. Is the DVD not sealed? Used? I bought some dvds from various places, mostly from IW. and bought variety brands of DVDs. Some of them comes with simply a seal, (eg. BABA). When i first got them, i assumed i didn't pay for the wrapping :D

Are they pirates? What do you consider pirates? Do you read threads on "DVDs to Avoid(!)" section. In this section, many threads advises to not to purchase certain DVDs because of their poor quality. I consider them PIRATES. For example: Baba, Samrat, Media Digital, Neptune, T-Series ,, even Eros... etc etc. What is your DVD makes are?

Many knowledgable beings here says IW sells pirates because they sell poor quality dvds cheap not the prices that other website sells to make a living. If purchasing poor quality dvds for more make them GENUINE, then IW probably sells ALL pirated dvds.

Maahiya, kindly tell us more about your dvds that you bought, and even the price that you had paid and the time you waited. In one word, tell us your experience with them. There are many of us who can benefit from this.

sometime when i read posts here in zulm, it reminds me of a song from the movie ROTI(weg): "Ye jo public hai, ye sab janti hai public hai...." :music:

Thanks Shuman

I placed my order on 11th March and I ordered
EK Rishtaa- 2 dvd DEI
Dil Chahta hai - 2 dvd SOVEN
Fiza- Videosound
Yaadein- tips
Sholay- EROS /DEI

It came to £47 altogether including delivery

They all seem okay apart from DCH, and ER- they are all perfect quality and sealed but the discs compared with things like KNPH and HDDCS from CDGURU dont seem as good quality in terms of printing on discs and dvd disc cases- the CDGURU ones had two dvd holders- quite fancy but the IW ones seemed to just be on top of each other- didnt seem original and the ER One maybe the manufacturers have changed packaging and they are not pirates?

although it can easily be done by IW with a nice colour printer, a dvd burner, and some empty dvd cases- does anybody else have the Ek Rishtaa 2 dvd version- if so what is the case like- i thought it would be like KNPH or HDDCS

I got my delivery yesterday- 21st March- so it took 10 days(from day of order) which is okay I suppose.

On another note does anybody know about paying customs in UK from goods shipped from India- I am getting some furnture shipped over and I wanted to know what customs would charge here- does anyone know where I can get this information from?

Thanks!

You should be able to find the relevant information on the HM Customs and Excise website here;

http://www.hmce.gov.uk/

As for Ek Rishtaa - it had a couple of different covers;

http://www.zulm.net....sid=311
DEI re-packaged Tip Top version

the original DEI version;

..both the top covers are for 2-disk version, the single disk releases had different covers!

Maahiya,

Thanks for sharing your experience with IW. So it seems, you are all satisfied other than the fact that you have doubt ("shanka") about it's genuinity.

Sincerely speaking, i had that doubt when i first placed an order with them. But after checking EVERY DVD stores locally and some abroad (USA), i come to learn that all are the same in all aspects. However, Your hypothesis of IW reproducing DVDs cant be neglected either. Personally i dont care if someone else making few buck$ while providing me with decent material ("maal").

But legally speaking, that is not legal in anyway other than to have a written approval of the right holders. and Fortunately, should you want to inquire about it, the most right holders have an official www website or some sort of contact information on the DVDs.

And as ali said, DVDs covers are different depending which version of DVD you get. As for DVD cases, i noticed the similiar thing, I bought 2 copies of Kaho Na Pya Hai, and they both have different Casing. Again, Only DVD authors/Right holders can help put some light on it.

Note: As far as Eros DVDs goes, Noone (According of them) sells genuine DVD other than themselves (http://www.erosentertainment.com) .. Respecting that, i can now say IW, ICD, CDGURU, IBB, VI, ..... all sells Eros PIRATED DVD :D

No. I am not telling eveyrone that IW deals in pirated.

I was just commenting aloud to what Mahaaiya had asked.
I would imagine pirated products would cost lower than the original. Hence that allows the seller to sell lower than anyone else.

IW looks legit. but dear lord thier prices are low. I guess they belive in doing business by VOLUME. And if so many are buying from them, then i don't think they would want to kill thier busienss by seliing pirated crap. So this leads to the question, how do you tell a dvd is pirated or orginal. I read or heard from someone that firstlook has put a spicail metalic like color in the sword of Asoka ( Asok DVD cover). I saw one inthe shop. It looks like the one they have done and yet the movie has not been officialy released.hmmm.

I would definetly pay a higher price for quality, efficient customer service and hassle free ordering.

Hi Sachin,
You have answered your own question. The most contentious DVDs happen to be the DEI-EROS titles. Technically they are NOT SUPPOSED to be in circulation but they still are and will continue to be in circulation for a long time. I do agree that those DVDs are copied DVDs (read pirated DVDs). But IW or for that matter ICDs cannot be blamed for that. Every online store sells those DVds as ppl do not want the LEGITIMATE EROS-B4U titles as they are crappy in nature.

As for prices being low, yeah they have the greatest prices on the web. I have been able to wean away a few die hard RETAIL customers who used to get ripped off at CANADIAN retailers in Toronto, by asking them to try out IW and they had no complaints.

I had once commented that I DO endorse piracy (whatever you may infer from that) of EROS - B4U titles as they are the rogues of Hindi DVDs and they deserve no sympathy. May they rot in hell. If you have a choice go for DEI-EROS titles anytime, anywhere instead of EROS-B4U titles.

Regarding other titles, (like BABA and other shady pirated DVDs), IW sure has to make a fast buck ( like other online retailers), in order to give us those fantastic prices on other DVDs. May the tribe of fools increase who purchase those "other" pirated DVDs at least once and then let them come to zulm.net and then get enlightenment abt DVD quality and other stuff.

I have a suggestion to make here folks. If anyone isnt satisfied by the service of IW, you have the following options :-

1.) Post ur grievance here, as Folks @ IW read this forum always

2.) Get a redressal as Sachin says they wouldnt wanna lose their loyal customer base !

3.) If you are still unsatisfied you have other options to purchase your DVDs (read other EXPENSIVE online e-tailers / local grocery wallahs !)

I seriously doubt that folks who buy from IW will be affected by a few folks (read rivals) who always come here and post something to defame IW. I, for one will hardly switch loyalties, as long as I get good rates from them and I must say Afzal for one is one heck of a good cust. rep !
(Folks here can vouchsafe for that)
