When I started this thread (Sept 2019), I had just started noting that some of the youtube videos were better than their DVDs. I could not believe it but by now (June 2020), it's obvious that many internet postings are really better than their DVD releases. Whether it's because of Field Averaged DVD vs 25 fps original transfer or whether it's because of new HD transfers and the DVD companies posting their material directly on the web, bypassing the disc format, it's nice to see better quality (at least visually for now; may be audio too ??). Lots of such material available but not all.

As in this thread, we have already identified many youtube videos that are better than DVDs, let's keep them listing in this thread.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of 1080P and 4K content keeps on showing up on youtube. Not sure, if really 1080P or 4K, but it really looks better than crap DVDs. Once you find one or a few HD songs or content, youtube picks more content for you depending on your record and also of general audience. But, their selections do not differentiate (yet) between HD content or crap PQ content.

So, it'll be nice to share good internet links that you find useful. Please keep suggesting & posting it here.

One such link, I found today is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6JCGhe ... o1&index=1

As I found this list of 48 4K Bollywood songs, I really liked the selection and started d-loading. A few min later I realized, I'm not d-loading in a good way (scattered all over on the desktop) and re-started the d-load in a new folder. Was pleasantly surprised that by now (a matter of 10-15 min), there were 110 4K songs ( a few perhaps are just 1080P) in the same location, now. Looks like, someone was in the process of uploading 4K content in a systematic way. There could be more in the coming days ??

Before this, I had seen 4K songs, but not in such an elaborate play-list. This play-list gives you over 8 hours of continuous 4K HD songs and the selection is excellent too.

Yes, I have d-loaded many 4K videos using 'Youtube-DLG' program that I d-loaded from internet. I can play that content using VLC.

There are some hitches to play the mkv files, stored on USB stick, directly on my LG OLED TV, but that too will be overcome soon by transferring '4K content in MKV shell' to '4K content in MP4' shell.

Of course, 4K videos can also be accessed directly by Youtube on my TV. But, controlling selection is difficult for content after the initial selection. Playing 4K (or other) content on cell phone and streaming to TV: I'm not sure if it gives same quality ?? Experts say Yes, but I find PQ lower quality ??

Internet content changes often. The link, I gave, already changed/ altered some content from 4K to 1080P. Perhaps, the 4K version will be back after fixing a problem, someone reported ?? 4K that I d-loaded was definitely better (better PQ, but audio was harsh) than 1080P that's posted now.

BEMISAL (Amitabh, Rakhi, Vinod Mehra)

Shemaroo DVD is crap and youtube is lot better. Runtime too is 149 min in the following link while the DVD is 143 min.

Shemaroo DVD is PAL to NTSC converted Field Averaged.
Shemaroo youtube is 1080P25.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no1--zU3NyI

---------------------------------------------------
Another clip from DES PARDES (Dev Annand) ; Song Tu Pee Aur Jee

youtube posting from Shemaroo DVD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jLwpUEcxdg
despite posted as 1080P, it's from Shemaroo Field Averaged DVD. Poor Quality.

youtube posting 720P25 is a lot better than the Shem DVD.

Another 1080P30 youtube posting of same viseo. This must be field averaged but competes with the 720P25 ??

The only problem with the Shemaroo restored versions is the cropping - I was watching Aap Ki Parchaiyan on VHS the other day, there is a scene where Dharmendra's mother is unwell and lying down on the bed whilst the family are talking to her - on the Shemaroo version, it is so cropped that you can't even see her! I'll try and do comparison shots at some point!

Bettter PQ versions have been appearing with time. Sometimes from traditional DVD companies, now active in youtube and sometimes from TV broadcasters.

Today, I saw, a lot better than what was on DVD, Pyar Ka Mausam on Zee TV. 2-3 days back I saw another one but forgot the name. Searched Pyar Ka Mausam on youtube and none was as good (or even close to) as the ZeeTV print.

(RajKumar as already mentioned here and there has 3 songs (film still in DVD quality) in 4K on youtube).

BTW, I'm not sure if the stated 4K resolution videos of Hindi films on youtube are really 4K ?? Most likely these are 1080P up-scaled to 4K when transferred to youtube. I've noticed, youtube (Hindi) videos are mostly up-scaled one notch when posting on youtube.

Forgot the Name: It was Pyar Kiye Jaa (on Zee TV, excellent print)

Yesterday was another excellent print on Zee TV: Dil Aur Mohabbat (Joy Mukherjee, Sharmila Tagore, Ashok Kumar
Much better than on any DVD.
