Anyone using either the PS3 or the XBOX 360 to look at these HD formats? I read that the 360 dashboard update now supports H264 formats, so no longer will I need to get a seperate media box.

Anyone have any experiance using this?

Xbox 360: H.264 is only supported via the VC1 High Definition profile, they are many WMV encoding using VC1 out there for try out

When you updated your dashboard was your firmware mod left intact?
I need to update mine to get the H264 update, but just wondering if they will correct my mod?

I'm assuming you 360 is firmware modded 8)

yes my xbox360 is firmware modded.. hd movies that are encoded in wmv do work.. however they dont look as good as say mkv files... dont ask why but they dont!!

you cant beat a dedicated htpc to play the files...

I was worried your say that about dedicated!
Im gonna look into media boxes instead of htpc (cheaper) and once they have sorted out a firmware for h264 with no glitches shud do all i want

the new windows media player 11, apparently lets you stream direct to your xbox360 just gotta pair it up. It doesn't do all formats but must do the wmv stuff i think(!)
