While I've never used these two services, I would recommend GODESIGO.COM and INDIAWEEKLY.com if you want reliability. They are not quick though in getting your order processed. Depending on where you live I would say expect at least 5 business days before you get the DVDs in your hand.
Hope this helps.

???

Hi Hero76,
I browsed thro' IndiaWeekly.com - Their rental prices seem to be pretty expensive at $2.00 to $4.99 ...

Indofilms offer DVDs at $12.95 .... shipping will take approx 1-5 days .... I stay in LA so I shld get it in 1 day they said. So would it not be cheaper to go to them ? I would like to know if anybody uses their services ..... They are very fast in replying to emails also.

Would I not get more movies a month from IndoFilms than from IndiaWeekly ?

I use godesigo.com all the time. They have really good service and pretty decent shipping for DVD rentals. I've only come across two problems with godesigo in the 2 years I've rented from them. Once the DVD I rented was broken as some had guled it back together, and other time the DVD I rented was too scratched up. Anyways Godesigo's customer service is really good and they shipped me out new DVD replacements ASAP. :)

My cousin rents from indofilms.com($12.95 plan) and she is able to watch over 10 movies/month living in Washington DC Area. As soon as she mails back the DVD, she goes and clicks on her account history that the DVD has been mailed and IndoFilms will mail her the next DVD in queue without waiting for the DVD to arrive to them.

I think they are as good as Netflix used to be in the gold old early days.

In regards to Dev Annand's Guide, Indiaweekly has it for $9.99. Not a bad dvd for an old movie.

I've tried all the major competitors except IndoFilms (I tried them all at the same time for an entire month to compare speed, quality, etc. simultaneously) and I can tell you I've had problems with all companies except IndianMovies.com which has proven to be reliable, cheap and worth the money. Plus, initially, their service speed was incredible. Aside from them, I'd say give IndoFilms a shot.

Currently, with IndianMovies.com I'm paying only 10.99 a month for 3 DVDs out at at time. I can average 8+ flicks back and forth per month. They have plans offering anywhere from 2 to 6 DVDs out at a time with differing prices...the most flexibility I've seen.

Hi Krish & Kpolina
Thanks for your replies.
I signed up with http://www.indofilms.com yesterday. Got the First Month Free. I spoke with their support div - Arun. Cool team. Will give it a shot.

I am new to this online renting experience - Indofilms has promised me an enjoyable stay.

:DD: I got the First Month Free - then if satisfied, I can continue the service at $12.95 per month

I contacted Indofilms about a week ago via email regarding availability and never got an email response back. Was wanting to sign up with them but wanted to know how many copies of films they usually carry. Considering there's no due date I'm sure some desis will keep dvds for a month or two before returning them. Was going to sign up for Indianfilms but almost every film I wanted to rent stated "it was in circulation." Not just new DVDs like LAGAAN and K3G but even GOVINDA flicks like AUNTY NO. 1 and DULAARA! If this is the case I'd rather goto the local Patel Bros. and take the DVD home for the $3.50 they charge since I know the DVD is directly available. So before you guys sign up for the 12 dollars a month you might want to make sure you'll get the DVD you actually want within a month or 2 after it's in your queue.

Hello Hero76,

We do apologize for not responding to your email. We did search through all our emails and couldn't pull up one which asked for availabilty of DVDs. Anyhow here are the answers to your questions.

Availability: Yes, You are correct when you say members might keep DVDs with them for a long period. After all this is service which has no due dates, no late fees, no contracts. Which us why we make it a point to carry large numbers of copies of almost every film. Number of copies per film ranges from 30 to 250. Depending on the popularity of a film, we keep buying additonal copies of the movie as the demand goes up. Our system monitors the demand on a hourly basis and generates reports and we use that report to buy more. You might ask how we manage to buy so many copies. The answer is that we are also very active in the B2B area where we are able to sell both new and used & refurbished DVDs to grocery stores across the country

.

Members add movies to their rental queue despite the In Circulation message. There is a high turnover of DVDs every day. Over 500-600 go out and an equal number come back everyday. So if you have a movie at a higher priority, the chances of you geting that movie is high. The system is designed to allocate movies based on the priority , availabily and also allocate movies on a fair basis.

As far as Aunty No 1 and Dulara are concerned I have intsructed the acquistion department to add these movie to our library. We have close to 1400 unique Hindi titles. We are sure there are more titles out there that need to be bought and added. We are contantly working to add more movies to our library.

I also have to agree with you that yes you could go to a local store and pay 2 -3.90 and rent a DVD. If you happen to be on friendly terms with the shop owner, you will never have to pay late fees. Also they might even call you and inform you when a title is available. That way you won't have to drive all the way and find that the DVD you want is in in circulation. But it has been experience that many shops are not too particular about original DVDs. I don't blame them. After all they get a pirated DVD for much lesser cost and can still sell it at market price, thereby making a huge profit. But the quality is usually horrible. Why support piracy when it does no good to you as a customer, to companies like us and also to the Indian Film Industry.

Try our service out for a month (please email me directly). You have nothing to loose. Its a win win situation for you.

We have some really useful features that other online rentals sites don't have. Yes we are slightly more expensive than others but we gaurantee service, quality and usefull features that will save you money, time and effort.

Pleas email me directly.
Regards
IndoFilms
