Adlabs Films Limited has started its U.K. operations in May through its newly set up office in London. Distribution of Indian films would be the primary business activity, but the company will also be actively exploring other business opportunities in the areas of film production and post-production through this office.
Adlabs has roped in Pranab Kapadia to head its U.K. operations, who joined the firm on May 15. Pranab comes to Adlabs after having been with Zee Network for close to 10 years, of which 7 years were spent in U.K. as Head of Programming & Operations. In addition to film distribution, Pranab will look after other business interests of Adlabs in the U.K. market as well.
Adlabs has recently ventured into the business of international sales and distribution of Bollywood films. It plans to distribute 18-24 films this year and has some of the biggest films lined up for release in the coming months, like Rakesh Roshan’s KRRISH, Sajid Nadiadwala’s JAANEMANN, Ravi Chopra’s BABUL and Mani Ratnam’s GURU.
Adlabs has already distributed more than 10 films this year in U.K. through independent distributors. KRRISH will be Adlabs’ first release in U.K. and U.S.A. through their own offices.
