I think Fiza by Spark is actually done by DEI. So, that makes it 8 out of 10.

Don't forget PAL Edition of ASOKA (Metrodome).

If PAL DVDs are to be included in this list, there may be a few other better than NTSC release DVDs as well.

If Metrodome ASOKA is included, it should knock off ASTITVA from the top 10 IMO.

DIL SE will be the next one to go if we identify another better DVD. Reason: It's cropped from sides to make it 185:1.

I am also assuming the list is for proper DD 5.1 DVDs. If Dolby 1 Ch or 2 Ch Mono are to be included, there are quite a few other DVDs that will make the grade.

I think Ali or others in UK can help here.

There are some Hindi DVDs straight from Film to PAL.
For example:
Monsoon Wedding R2,
ASOKA R2,
LAGAAN R2,
MISSION KASHMIR R2
EAST IS EAST

There must be few others too.

Every thing else being the same, in general Film to PAL DVDs are better than Film to NTSC (15% more res.) DVDs in my opinion. 4% speed shift in PAL is accepted as un-noticeable and 50 Hz flicker is irrelenant now as new TVs, have or will have, a 100 Hz refresh rate.

DEi should not get any credit for making the Dil Se dvd
actually, they messed up the video (badly cropped picture 1.85 and DVNR blasted like crazy) and sound wise I think the good quality was already inherent, maybe they boosted the bass a little. So I agree with Rana that Dil Se should be out from the top 10 lists and replaced with Asoka...

Just wondering, what I or Gautam meant with “other”?

Let’s include Dolby Mono, if the movie too was mono audio.
Let’s also include 4:3 DVDs if the OAR too was 4:3. Let’s not disqualify those DVDs where any better film print is just not available anywhere due to time lapse.

In that case, there are hundreds of DVDs all equally good, all from DEI and some from EVP. In this case, only LAGAAN, MISSION KASHMIR, Metrodome ASOKA and KAHO NA PYAR HAI (and we forgot Dharmender’s ALIBABA AUR 40 CHOR and TUMKO NA BHOOL PAAYENGAY) from the above list will make the grade. So I will put these 6 DVDs at par with hundreds of 4:3 DVDs from DEI. So my list of top 100 (hundred) DVDs will be (in no specific order):

1) 90 % of 4:3 DVDs from DEI. (aprox 70, of which at least 50 are top notch despite being very old films)
2) Some batches of 4:3 Hindi DVDs from EVP (aprox 12).
3) The above mentioned 6 DVDs.
