Gives these guys any DVD and they'll replicate x number of copies for you. That’s how easy it is to duplicate original DVDs these days.

i was gonna ask somet related to this topic!! if i could get my hands on the cinema copies i.e. 35mm prints i think, how hard will it be to replicate it on to DVD.... and is it possible to get quality that is better than DEI shit

You're talking about something else. DVD replication works if you have an ‘original’ DVD master - video already mastered onto DVD media. Then all these DVD replication guys do is make multiple copies of them. Normally to-do this you need the original master DVD copy – but what these guys are doing is taking original ‘protected’ DVD copies and making exact replicates of them – usually a piracy thing :where:

What you’re taking about is taking a print and mastering/authoring a DVD; which involves making a digital version of that film then compressing it in mpeg2 (plus doing other stuff like adding menus, chapters etc) i.e. the DVD authoring process. What you get out of this process is the DVD master copy that you’ll use to make further copies - i.e. the replication process.
