I recently received the Eros/DEI 'Bombay' from Nehaflix which I won through an online auction. However, the disc had no inserts though it was sealed, and the colors on the disc itself were bleeding. Does this mean this is a replicated DEI disc? I have never owned one so I can't tell.

However, the quality of the picture is alright. The worst part is the sound which is in mono and has a huge hiss at the back, right through the film. Wondering if anyone has this version, and if so, do you have the same problems with your disc ?

Thanks for the shots. Is the audio mono or 5.1?

DEI was not 5.1, I think stereo.

Can somebody upload all the VOB files of this DEI version of Bombay on Ayngaran's FTP site?
My DVD doesn't play after chapter 4, and I needed this for colour referencing on a forthcoming Ayngaran "HD" project.

I can e-mail the FTP details to you.

If there's one label which definitely shouldn't be used for colour-referencing, it's DEI. Many of their DVDs (including Bombay) are now a decade old and their colour rendition was never good to begin with.

Take this shot of the DEI Bombay disc for example...

Clearly not accurate at all.

Now compare with a shot from the print used by Zee Cinema and Germany's REM label...

Still a touch too dark, but with far more natural hues.

That is one thing I liked along with many other re DEI till they lost their sanity/integrity and business lol.

They kept audio, pure, orig. All older films are MONO, Stereo, Dolby Surround, followed by 5.1..nothing pseudo crap.

still stephen! they did way better than other pundits. Only their compromised stuff is worth keeping still.

I agree, with regard to prog video and sharpness. But colours, brightness, contrast? They were always way off. Not reference quality in the slightest.

The DEI disc will be sent to Mani Ratnam, who will approve which scenes have the correct colour.

REM, ZEE, Channel 4, and Pyramid versions failed to meet his approval.

Ayngaran has the correct colours during the song sequences.

He has heard of the DEI version, and wants to see it. I know he will fail this too.
