India's favourite new female star is 'ugly' and upright

She looks plain, wears thick black-rimmed glasses, teeth braces and dresses in unflattering voluminous clothes, yet she keeps viewers glued to television sets at prime time four days a week.

Clumsy, gullible and simple are adjectives used to describe her but Jasmeet Walia, better-known as Jassi, is one of the most popular characters on Indian television.

The Hindi serial -- entitled "Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin" aired Mondays to Thursdays on the entertainment-oriented Sony channel -- is the third most watched serial in the country of more than one billion people.

Any idea if it's avail on VHS or DVD??

I have an uncle who records every episode onto VHS every time a new episode airs. Other than that, I highly doubt it ever going to be available on video format.

As for the show itself, it's fantastic. I watch it everyday from monday through thursday. Jassi Jaisee Koi Nahin is heavily inspired by a mid-Euorpian show. The star Jasmit Walia(aka Mona Singh) isn't that half bad looking without her makeup.

I didnt recognize, it's Apoorva Agnihotri of PARDES fame as lead in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin.

You disappeared from the public radar after Pardes, resurfacing only with Jassi. Where have you been?

After Pardes, I was in Kasoor, Pyar Koi Khel Nahin and a disaster called Dhund. But you didn't miss much if you didn't see me in them. When I started out, there was a lull in the industry because of Gulshan Kumar's death. Everyone wanted me to play an NRI. Plus, there was no one to guide me after my father's death.
