Upon a friend's recommendation, i got this title from india. Shemaroo release of "Aap Ki Kasam". :) For some reason, there are error for credits for producer and director on the shemaroo dvd cover. Just like error for credits for the movie "Teesri Kasam" by sky.

The movie has my sanjeev kumar, that's worth my money and my time watching it. I am not a RK fan, but my wife is a Mumtaz fan. Here are some of my comments about the movie.

-Minuses:
* Story: Not creative, there are dozens of movies with same plot.
* The part where time passing by. it's not too creative. very plain.
* Very little of sanjeev kumar :(

+Pluses:
* Realistic approach for the climax.
* Very simple and effective screenplay.
* Great songs, dialogues.
* Excellent use of the side characters.
* Nice cinematography.

**** overall, a great movie.. i give it 8.2 / 10 :)

Some nice shots! I will send Baba's comparative shots at some point, and you will see how much better Shemaroo is in comparison. Baba's Aap Ki Kasam is one of the most dirtiest print around!

The plot may seem like usual now, but it was quite creative for its time. Its not really a love triangle, so there wasn't really much scope for Sanjeev Kumar. Sanjeev appeared in dozens of film in the 1970/80s dealing with marriage issues as a supporting star, for example, Apnapan, Swarag Narak, Shriman Shrimati.

I have always wondered about the Chori Chori Chupke Chupke song ... on the record and CD there is a really jarring jump/skip in the song where half a verse is missing. In the film version that whole verse is missing. I wonder what the back story is on the original recording. I have never heard a full version of the song anywhere!

1st : Honthon Par Tha Laj Ka Pehra...

2nd : Lakh Chupaye Meera Rani Man Mohan Ki Prem Deewani...

In between those two verses there is another ...

........... ho to neend bhi aayi (beginning of the verse is cut)
Kuchh na poochho Rama duhaai
Aane ko to neend bhi aayi
Jaagi saari ratiyaan
Akhiyan yeh akhiyan ....

For some reason every record and the CD has this issue. I have heard three different versions on 12" vinyl (LP) and all have the beginning of this verse missing. On the 7" EP (45rpm) the whole verse is missing same as in the film. One of my favorite songs from R.D. Burman ... love the Lata / Sitar duet.

Not heard of this part on DVDs. I can't find the audio cd version for downloading anywhere.

Could've been removed from the CDs and records due to damaged in the original master tape.

BEI had announced that they have acquired rights for all J. Omprakash films (& Rakesh Roshan's Filmkraft films; same family), Shakti Samanta films (from EVP & other EVP Hindi films) etc (had already released Kaho Na Pyar hai). It was a one man show and DVD authoring & releases were slow. They did Evening In Paris, Aan Milo Sajna, Saahib Biwi Aur Ghulaam. Before they could release more of these films (& they had to attend to other films too), they went (or were forced into) out of business/ bankrupt.
