I wanted to know, as a US newbie in Toronto, the complete list of theatres showing hindi and indian cinema in Toronto. If I remember correctly, 'Chokher Bali' was showing somewhere though I cant remember where! And about Albion, DO THEY HAVE SUBTITLES? My American friends and I want to see 'Pinjar' tomorrow, but we dont know if we'll get to see subtitles on the screen. I dont want to spend my 3 hours translating!! Also, while on the TTC from Spadina to Gerrard, I thought I saw a theater with tamil posters outside but I cant be sure. Advice please!

hindi films are shown at albion cinemas, woodside cinemas, and occasionally various AMC theatres.

choker bali was shown only during the toronto film festival.

whether or not a film has subtitles depends on the movie, not on the theatre. major releases usually have subtitles, but you should phone the theater to find out before.

Albion (west end - Albion/Finch) and Woodside cinemas (east end McCowan/Finch) are regular Bollywood cinema halls.

If it's an EROS release, you will find most of them also show at Cineplex Odeon (the one at Square One Mall in Mississauga always shows them)

YashRaj Films releases also show up in CineSphere (in Ontario Place, downtown)

Currently, CineSphere is showing 'Kal Ho Na Ho' daily at 7:30 pm.

Good luck,

Has any one been to Albion or Woodside lately. They are advertizing the theatres to have been equipperd with DTS recently. If so, audio must be awsome??

In the past, when they were not DTS equipped, occasionally I have seen Film containers clearly labelled as DTS versions and 'DTS disc included'.

I didn't find the sound anything extraordinary. It just seemed like the same old experience. The thing I have noticed is that, Woodside has increased there admissions rate now.

they always increase prices when a popular movie comes out. it'll be back to the normal price in a couple weeks.

Actually I noticed that one thing was different, at least at albion cinemas, was that the audio was played much LOUDER than previously. Otherwise though, you could tell it was a new stereo system they had installed which added to the film's overall appeal.
