From the official press release from Mondo Macabro who are doing this rare movie on DVD;

THE LIVING CORPSE

In the 1960's, even Pakistan was swinging!

To prove it, here's this amazing version of the Dracula story from 1967. So hot it was banned on its original release.

The only Pakistani film ever to be rated “X” in its country of origin, this sizzling little gem is also the first Dracula film to include the shocking “baby stealing” scene.

This first ever official video release, taken from the only surviving negative, includes a host of exclusive extras.

Zinda Laash - The Living Corpse - is a film so rare that even the most exhaustive studies of vampire films don't mention it. Although the film caused a sensation on its release back in the 1960's, it was banned and all but forgotten...until now!

An absolutely essential purchase for vampire film afficionados...for horror film fans...and for anyone who likes their horror hot and spicey.

A LOST VAMPIRE CLASSIC AND A LANDMARK IN ASIAN HORROR MOVIES

People who have an irrational persistent fear or dread of demons, ghosts or the supernatural may not be permitted to view this motion picture because of its unusually shocking scenes!

TENSE, TORTUOUS AND TERRIFYING!

Omar of bubonicfilms.com and thehotspotonline.com also says that Zinda Laash will feature at the SITGES FILM FESTIVAL along with two other 'horror' movies; Ram Gopal Verma's BHOOT and SANDHYA

So...this obscure horror film from the 1960s will probably receive a better treatment than most new releases?

Are these the same guys who put out the book titled Mondo Macabro? It was about horror and exploitation-type films from around the world, and included a section about India, with lots of posters and pictures.

I wouldn't expect great quality from this DVD - a rare movie from the 60s is hardly going to be in pristine condition anywhere in the world, let alone Pakistan!

I'm not sure about the book - but heard about this Zinda Laash DVD a while back (posted on this thread a year ago! - Bhaskar has grown white hair in anticipation for the DVD :tounge: )

But from the email I received from the people behind the DVD, they seem to have put a bit of effort into restoring the movie. From the trailer doesn’t look too bad for b/w movie from the 60s. The movie was restored from ‘almost destroyed negative’ which bubonicfilms.com put back together. The DVD gets released October 14th – while togo yet Bhaskar

Received this e-mail from Omar from thehotspotonline.com:

incidentally ive
forgotten my password on zulm.net and i think it was you referring to Zinda
Laash...........its in URDU with optional subtitles in English. the Mondo
Book is indeed the one about weird and wonderful worldwide
films...........and its three am over here........ive just completed and
submitted the chapter i have written for the Mondo Book on pakistani weird
movies.............which is to be included in the book which is being
reprinted for the Sitges festival later in the year.............in Spanish.
there is also talk of a French version shortly........but sadly my own
chapter shall only appear in english if the book goes back for reprinting.
Anyway, i am honoured to be part of the Mondo Macabro family as such!

[The movie opened on July 7th, 1967 to big crowds as curiosity levels had reached fever pitch as the film made history as the only local release to be awarded an "Adults Only" certificate. The clever advertising in the papers had filmgoers lining up to see why the film was deemed to be a threat to the fragile moral fibre of society! 35 years on, Zinda Laash remains the only local film ever to have been certified "For Adults Only".]

Darn it..maen BECHARA BACHA!!

You know it TOOK HELL SCARE OUT OF ME..at that time..But

I dont know? may be I 'll laugh at it now!
