Have to correct myself here. Gomti Ke Kinare was a pseudo-progressive DVD from Shemaroo, too.

These days, I usually find that on youtube, many available videos to be better than what was on DVD.
DVD videos that were PAL to NTSC transferred, when posted on youtube, in recent postings, is taken from original master that could be 25 or 24 fps, all digital, no field averaging required. Not all, but slowly and slowly, actually very fast, excellent prints are being posted on youtube.

Another Tid-bit:
On youtube, search for 'Rassian Bollywood' (Note spelling Rassian, not Russian). You will find lots of Bollywood material. I've been using it to discover any longer versions of the films.

This film would have been on DEi's roster if it weren't for the company's demise after the issues with Eros - it is produced by the same company who produced Souten, Hawas, Saajan Ki Saheli & Saajan Bina Suhagan; all of which were done by DEi.

In consolation, a remastered HD version of this film has been brought out by Shemaroo. Really enjoyed some of the songs like "Aaj To Meri Hansi Udayi" - it is a treat to watch Meena Kumari, despite her obvious ill-health at the time of filming. Her acting remains shiny, irrespective - especially in the scene where she's humiliated by Manorama (another iconic actress). Upon being slapped by Manorama, Meena Kumari proceeds to pick her ghunghroos, ready to toss it at the tyrant, Manorama; however is stopped by Lalita Kumari. Really good screenplay, with these shining stars. DEi print would have been great!

Shemaroo's DVD was good, too! Like most of their early DVDs, it had good colors - not as fluorescent and oversaturated as how they render it on their HD masters today.
