NTSC Indian Film Broadcasts from PAL source DISGUSTING
I have noticed in so many broadcasts of Indian Films on TV that they all are from PAL source even if their direct Film to NTSC master exists. One shown this Sunday was Baazigar. We know that it’s Progressive DVD from DEI-EROS exists and also its EROS DVD is Pseudo-progressive NTSC. But, the TV broadcast was Field Averaged, a sign of PAL to NTSC transfer.
The reason is simple but disgusting.
B4U and and all other Cine Channels cater to PAL countries and hence all their programming is in PAL. When airing any film, they just use the same PAL masters and convert to NTSC. I can understand this PAL to NTSC transfer if the original programming is in PAL, like news broadcasts, video dramas etc. But for a film, where the original is Film and direct Film to NTSC is avail, it’s appalling to use ‘Film to PAL to NTSC’ broadcasts.
As a viewer, not too bad if we see a movie video broadcast as a pass time, not costing anything, but paying for it for this kind of crap on Pay TV is totally foolish. I am assuming, but am certain that all Indian Pay TV NTSC broadcasts (Zee TV, B4U, etc. are all PAL to NTSC converted.

Actually, nothing is free. In watching these movie video broadcasts, we have to endure about 15 min of commercials every hour.
