no doubt he's best indian actor but you think better than de nero & pachino? who are my heros.

fav films
taxi driver
godfather 1/2
casio
heat
carlitos way
scarface

for denero i like taxi driver i dont think ab could beat that maybe come close err no i change my mind he could not even come close. my best pachino performance was in carlitosway and again i think ab could not do that performance to the standed set by pachino.

all in all i think ab is amazing for indian cinema, but i guess denero/pachino are just better the face impressions the body movements just amazing check out heat and watch pachinos hand movements in that film just amazing.

yup...I agree somewhat Robert de niro and Al Pacino are better than AB and though most will not agree. Anyway it is not that the actors in Bollywood are bad but rather the audience cannot accept that kind of films. Even Agneepath was a flop. Can you imagine Taxi driver made with AB in the 1970's and be acclaimed.

I believe Nasseruddin Shah and Sanjeev Kumar to be as good as, if not better than, Amitabh Bachchan.

De Niro is probably Hollywood's best ever

Pacino & De Niro are Hollywoods greatest.
But Amitabh Bachchan is onvthe same level as both of them. I'm not saying he's better, am saying that he can compete with both of 'em!

De Niro's best Performance:Taxi Driver
Pacino's best Performance:Scarface
Bachchan's best Performance:Muqaddar ka Sikandar/Sharaabi

If you watch AB carefully in his movies, you can tell how good he actually is, watch in sholay..when he does that dying scene..look at the way his eyes roll and the way he expresses his emotions!......Also in Muqaddar ka Sikandar watch the scene before he sings "O Saathi Re"....watch how his voice & face change when tells everyone he is an Orphan!

I know Pacino & De Niro r class, but AB is up there with them:
think about it Pacino & De Niro have mostly been successful in serious/gangster roles...but AB has been successful in everything:
ROMANCE:KABHI KABHIE
ACTION:LAAWARIS/NASEEB/COOLIE..can go on forever!!
COMEDY: CHUPKE CHUPKE/ NAMAK HALAL
OLD MAN ROLES: MAHAAN/DESH PREMEE/AAKHREE RAASTA
DRUNKEN:SHARAABI/AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY/NASEEB
etc. etc.

See My Point!!!

I don't think you can compare hollywood actors with bollywood. There are some very good actors/actresses in bollywood for the likes of Nassruden, Shashi Kapoor(in his prime), Shabana Azmi, Om Puri and in todays films I think Aamir Khan and Sharukh have shown that if the roles are there they can diliver.

Then again polls are poll! Here's a new one that lists De Niro as number 1 and Pacino at number 2 - no Indian actor/actress to seen anywhere on the top 100!

Another year and another poll which was shown on TV in the UK over the weekend - this time Al Pacino is no. 1 with Robert De Niro second. AB came in at 92 and was the only Bollywood star there! Jackie Chan was at 41 :wotever:

I am not from the AB generation, and I realise that I cringe whenever I see AB in Mohabbatein, K3G, Aks, Aankhen, etc. Could it...could it be...because he is a bad actor?

amitabh bachchan nuff said!!

Amitabh Bachchan - At 60 and still the Big B!!

Saying that DeNiro and Pacino are excellent but AB excels these guys in other ways.......... have u ever watched a De Niro or Pacino movie which wud actually give you goose pimples... and like ali says.. how can u forget Disco Bhangra!!

But its pointless trying to compare bollywood actors and hollywood actors... its a total different ball game... Bollywood is for mass indian audience so we have over emotional scenes, song and dance, slapstick comedy all rolled into one which people can relate too.. but Hollywood appeals to the stiff upper lip audience so u will see the difference.. only if AB cud be given the chance to work along side deniro or pacino, i do reckon he cud give his best against them!!

I think the poll took worldwide popularity into account, not so much acting talent, otherwise Arnie wouldn't have scored higher than AB. While AB is popular in India he is not known in the western world, where Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee are. At first I was surpirsed that Jackie Chan scored higher than Bruce Lee, but then again he's made more hollywood films and has had a longer career. The poll was all about star power.
There were no other people of Indian background included, not even Ben Kingsley was there, who's half-indian, but then again he's only known for one role.
