'Lagaan' team in 'Thakaan'

Ashutosh Gowarikar, Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh and the 'Lagaan' team will have to sit back now. As a tribute to their celluloid marvel Bhuvan, Gauri and the 'Lagaan' team will be resurrected on the big screen, in sharp contrast to their characters though, in a film called 'Thakaan'! This lavish spoof is being made by Sahara with 'K Sera Sera' as the assigned producers. Hopefully Gowarikar and Co will let go some chuckles. 'Thakaan' will premiere on Sahara around June-July with a simultaneous theatrical release. 'Thakaan's cast includes Johnny Lever, Resham Tipnis Seth and Balwinder Singh Suri among others. Lever is Bhuvan while Seth is Gauri. 'Thakaan', which is 80 per cent complete, has been shot at a village set erected at Film City. The climax scenes and the crucial match will be shot near Pune. The film will have six songs with music by Rajinder Singh and lyrics by Asad Ajmeri. The story, dialogues and screenplay are by Imtiaz Patel. 'Lagaan' is the first in the series of spoof films from Sahara. Expect 'Chhate', which will take off on 'Kaante' or a 'Bravedas', which will clash with 'Devdas' or even a 'Magar' who will take a roar at 'Gadar' from the Sahara stable.
