It seems that Mani Ratnam next film (which has not yet titled) will be a small budget light hearted film that looks at the urban life of three South Indian youths.

...Sounds like a Tamil version of Dil Chahta Hail (but knowing Ratnam he will add something fresh to it)

The film will have Suyra, Shyaam. Meera Jasmine, Trisha and plans to also have Madevan (once he confirm his dates). Shooting will start in July 03 and looks set to be released in Jan 04.

Cinematography will be done by Ravi Chandran, and music will be by A.R. Rahman. The film will be shot on 35mm film and will have DTS and Dolby Ex soundtrack.

Didn't Five Star cover similar territory? I hope Ratnam's version will go beyond the above and beyond other films like this.

According to many rumours on the net it seems to be a remake of Dil Chatha Hai...but according to Ratnam in a television interview he claimed that his next feature will have three different stories that will contain a multistrand narrative which intertwins in a strange and unconventional way! Here is hoping for a wicked turning point like that in Alay Pauthey!

Five Star was about four friends who help a person to find her husband which was an ex-mate of thiers before he left her...
