Consider Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

What % of GTA population is South Asian, the target Population base for Indian Movies.

GTA pop is about 5 Million and about 10% (over 500,000) of it is South Asian (Target audience for Indian Films).
(Correction made after checking stats)

Now consider, the new Hollywood movie X-Men. It's running in over 300 shows daily on the weekend in the GTA.

On that basis, Top Indian movie releases should be running in 30 shows daily in the opening weekend.

But we get no more than 7 - 8 shows (and even that in ill-equipped theatres), where as, proportinately it should be 30 shows daily.

What's the catch??

Pirated DVD's, and not enough theaters!

Plus, it's hard to find out about films without regular Zee TV, B4U, Star Plus, and Sony TV channels like they do in India, UK, and the Caribbean.
