I saw her in a Song Video I was watching this weekend; she's Divya Rana...
Anyone remember seeing any of her movies? (Maa Kasam, Woh Din Aayega...)
She looked a bit like Shilpa Shrodkar/Waheeda...

Hi rana,
just wondering if you've seen any of these movies mentioned?
What was the main storyline for any you've seen?
Thanks! :DD:

Ek Jaan Hain Hum was a very nice movie. I don't know why it flopped. Ram Teri Ganga Mailee, I am sure you know was a super duper hit but Divya had a supporting but important role. Maa Kasam was a nice movie too. I don't remember its story line but will chek it out tonite. I may have VHS copies of some other as well.

I don't mind being a king, as long as I don't get executed.

BTW you could have edited your post just by clicking on edit button on your post.
In reply, could you please show me how to insert emotion buttons.

Thanks.

Thanks Ros1, for showing me the icon inset trick. :)

Another good movie of Divya Rana is AASMAAN.
In my opinion this was her BEST movie. It’s a typical masala movie with excellent songs, complicated masala story, Tina Munim in a supporting role (Stage dancer and love interest), Rajeev Kapoor in a double role; good and bad (like Shashi Kapoor’s Haseena Maan Jaayegi), Rajeev Kapoor’s mimicking Shammi Kapoor’s super flexible style in one song (cute), Rajeev sent to war front (like Dev Annand’s Hum Dono),-----etc. All may not be original, but the combination definitely is.

EK JAAN HAIN HUM was her first movie (Hero:Rajeev Kapoor). It is a typical teenage romance movie with big supporting starcast (Pran, Shammi Kapoor) and good music, suitable for introducing new young actors. Family anomosity, lavish disco, teenage romance, misunderstanding, poor boy framed for serious crimes etc.

MAA KASAM was an average movie. Story line is:
Thakur shows his son a ring which contains a map to his treasure.Villain (Ranjeet) hears it, demands the ring, shoots both of them. Thakur manages to bring the boy home. Thakur dies, son is brought up by foster parents, Villain is jailed and the ring stays in boy’s finger, unaware of its importance. The boy grows up Mitun, Divya is his love intrest. Thakur’s wife doesn’t know that Mitun is her son. Ring is stolen by petty thieves, passes hands (Amjad Khan) in gambling etc. Mitun, I think, ends up in conflict with Thakur’s wife. You can imagine the endining. The movie has a few nice songs.

MUDDAT, I will check it tonight and post its story line tomorrow. It had three heroines, so I don’t think Divya will have a major role.

RAM TERI GANGA MAILEE: I am sure you know this film.

HIMMAT AUR MEHNAT and WATAN KE RAKHWALE are in my VHS list but couldn’t find them in my pile. If I recorded, I must have liked them. In general Diviya’s first movies were better but kept going downhill with releases. I think Divya Rana belongs to some Royal Family and acting was only her hobby??

My preference wise, I would like to have Ek Jaan Hain Hum and Aasmaan for my collection whenever they are released on a decent DVD.

The following Divya Rana movies are listed in the link (filmkhoj) below: http://www.filmikhoj.com/pro_per....ype=mpr

CHHOTE SARKAR (1996)
KASAM KALI KI
PAKKA BADMASH
HATYARE
AURAT AUR PATTHAR
GARIBON KA DAATA
AKHRI MUQABLA
ANDHAA YUDH
EK HI MAQSAD
HIMMAT AUR MEHANAT
WATAN KE RAKHAWALE
MUDDAT
WOH DIN AAYEGA
MAA KASAM
RAM TERI GANGA MAILI
EK JAAN HAIN HUM (1983)
The movie Aasmaan is not in their data base yet. So add:
AASMAAN

It was not difficult at all. In the VHS era, I used to buy/ copy all the movies that I liked or semi-liked. My criteria were 2 or 3 colorful songs and good print. As is happening with the DVDs, VHS movies too were good initially, and the quality went from O.K. to unwatchable by mid 90s. That is when I stopped buying, copying or even watching Indian movies. At one time, I scribbled an alphabetic list of my VHS movies as well.

Checking storyline for a VHS that I have is not difficult either as my VHS player plays noisefree at 7x speed and with proper pitch audio.

I had been feeling sorry for my VHS collection, as it is obsolete now, due to DVDs. But I guess it still has some use as not all of these movies are on DVD yet, or many DVD prints are no better than my VHS. Moreover, I haven’t seen any DVD player yet, which gives audio in search mode.

Now talking of MUDDAT, Divya Rana is not really in the movie. Scanning this movie, I detected Divya Rana in one Mitun’s Disco number only (less than 30 sec.); and no connection with the storyline. The storyline is:
Mitun is on death row but is allowed stage shows for charity. In flashback, his pairing is with Padmini Kolhapure. Kadar Khan is villain. Jaya Prada concludes that Mitun is innocent and helps him, herself to be kidnapped and wedded by Mitun (when Mitun is in Police custody) to delay (Muddat) the execution until marriage is consummated and eventually, until Mitun is exonerated.
