Hey hey........
I made it .....(exhaling) Good work Ali!

Ok now for my first offering of the meat!

I just saw ABCD as it released here in the US last weekend by Eros. I have to say that its portrayal of ABCDs and the distinction it makes between old fashioned parents and kids trying to cope with the confusion is EXCELLENT.

The movie actually made me cry....couldn't believe it. It was so real in its depiction of situations we all go through in America or the west in general maybe, may we be FOB or ABCD.

It was about 50x better than American Desi, which, after seeing ABCD, seemed third rate. ABCD is more drama than comedy, but doesn't steer too far away from comic situations.

Did anyone else check it out yet?

Raj

Saw the film on pirate VHS (which was actually kinda good quality). The film is decent, but my cousin in America seems to agree with you on it as well.

But a movie which looks at present young Asian's in the UK has yet to happen, which is a bit of a shame as it would be intresting and could be controversial.

I remember me and my mates made a short movie (lovejeet) as our class assignment. The film looked at four different asian teen's, and thier lives.

When we showed he film to the local Asian Culture Club @ Wood Green, London the reaction was quite bitter from the older genration yet the youth, particualry females (which this film concentrated on) was positive.

I know the audience is out there but we have no daring film-makers willing to tackle issues surrounding our new hybrid culture in the UK.

yeah sunny, maybe the audience that demands reg ol' bollywood is too dense in the UK. I know the desi population is higher up there.

This movie (ABCD) actually is making me think long and hard about the filmmaking profession. I know it's a long shot but maybe u could spill some salt.

As far as risk-taking in the movie industry especially as a young filmmaker, I think it would be best to concentrate on mainstream oriented films first, but I know there is an audience out there that craves parallel cinema that concentrates on culture diffusion in modern times.

Personally, I enjoyed East is East but it may not contain issues that face the western born youth in the UK.

So, I say go for it! If there is anyway I can get my hands on your film, pleaaase let me know!

Hey Pillai, check up Sulekha and you will see how the ABCD females have got psyched up....considering that they have depicted the gal in the film as semi to major slut ! :p

All of my short movies I have made are to be assesed at the end of my AVCE Media course by a moderator. Only then can I have my films back. I will launch a website with all of my shorts so they can be accessed on the web. I only hope I get good grades, and make some decents films in the future, with some excellent DVD supplements of course :)
