Shot in a record time of 18 days at Hampi, the movie stars Deepti Naval, Anant Nag and Sonali Bendre. "The film is a period film set in the 10th century. It is a period film, but it talks of contemporary and relevant issues," says Palekar.
The highlight of 'Anahat' is the fact that being a period film, it does not boast of an exorbitant budget. "I make my movies on peanuts. You don't need a huge budget to give you the impression of grandeur. What you need is a vision and a creative team of people to share the vision." Another thing to note is the fact that not a single costume in the movie was stitched. "The outfits either had to be worn or draped. The male characters who had to wear a dhoti had to accustom themselves to being comfortable with the drape," he informs. Amol is also quite impressed with his actors. "It was sheer pleasure working with them. Deepti is a fascinating actress and the kind of hard work she put in learning Marathi and rehearsing was just amazing. Anant has simply excelled himself," Amol states.
