Now here is another DVD of K3G I just rented :

Time Line Entertainment Release
Running Time :
3hrs 20mins (Movie) (Not cut from what I saw, maintains 3-5mbps)
29mins (Making Of K3G) (Dark & Pixellated, maintains 2-3mbps)
54 Chapter Stops (Only accessible while watching movie by hitting next)
Burnt In Subtitles
Single Sided
Video is similar to KKHH original Yashraj release except not anamorphic and not in its original aspect ratio
Overall pretty good for a pirate version, sorry can't tell you the aspect ratio as I am not good at that, and audio I don't have a proper stereo.

AR is about 1.70:1 judging from the screen shots - to measure: takeaway the black borders and divide width by height to get AR.

One thing I can't understand is, why are these pirate dvds\videos so readily available? Surely Time Line should e worried they may be prosecuted or something geeky like that, because of the openess of it all.

Time Line is a fake company that someone uses to show on the DVD cover along with a fake address.

For sure though Nads, it is crazy how readily available pirate DVDs are. My local retailer sells alot of pirate DVDs but said he refused to sell the previous pirate DVDs of K3G (could not return them) because they had horrendous video and sound. Then he got this version which was 10 times better the previous two or three versions and is selling them like hot cakes!!!

Guy who runs my local video store said the official version is being released in early Feb. (the 11th, I think he said?) to counter the piracy. According to him something's lit a fire under YR films. I have my fingers crossed.

The sound claims 5.1, I only have a 2 ch setup and it sound good. My previous K3G rented DVDs showed 2ch on my dvd player, but this one shows 5.1.

There are many DVDs of K3G floating around mainly the ones that have poor video (f/s) and bad audio (2ch).

I watched the whole movie last night, and yes it is stretched meaning it should look good on a widescreen tv. First half of the movie has good colors and the second half has some washed out colors and some bad dark scenes (Look at movie shot 6 above for example). Looks like because of the length and the making of... which is all on one side of the DVD the movie suffered.

The making of... featurette is pixellated and dark and talkes about individual songs and its actors and actresses. Half way through the making of... a high pitch tone of sound is heard over coming the actual audio which can still be heard but is no longer watchable because of the horrendous sound.

If people cannot wait for the original to come out and must get a DVD of K3G for whatever reason beyond me, then go for this version. I could not scan the cover, but on the cover it has AB and SRK standing back to back from the Shava Shava song at the top and a picture of the family from the Bole Chudiyan at the bottom. ****Would recommend waiting for the original release when it comes out though, whenever that it is knowing Yash Raj Films ??? ****

The indian store piracy is compounded by the fact that the entire K3G divx is available on ftp servers all over! This is just IMO, but maybe if the DVD manufacturers released their films on DVD in a reasonable amount of time (*cough* Mission Kashmir *cough*) instead of squabbling over films only to release shoddy third rate quality, people might care enough to refuse pirated copies.

Sidenote- I grabbed the Lagaan CT DVD at BestBuy today, the lady was shocked at how the entire stock of Lagaan (10 copies) was gone in a matter of days (got the last copy :)
