This issue has been lurching like an oscillating knife on Bollywood's foreheads'. Our producers are tossing with sleepless nights and the theatres are running dry. Forums have been formed; discussion panels have debated this issue for over months. Now the tolerance threshold of our filmmakers seems to coming down with a crash. But hold on...the battle is not over yet, there's another man coming to power to tackle this issue. And this one is the Baadshah of Bollywood. Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts and Shemaroo Video have joined hands in a new initiative to curb the plague of piracy in the industry. Personalities from the industry like Shyam Shroff, Manmohan Shetty, Kunal Das Gupta, Madhur Bhandarkar, Pahlaj Nihlani, Govinda, Perizad Zorabian and Akshaye Khanna. Let's hope the eradication of piracy happens sooner than Bollywood's pockets go sinking deeper and deeper. Well, we could start by marking a day in our calendar called - "Anti-Piracy Day'. What say Mr. Ghai?

Note that the article doesn't elaborate on what they are going to do but just that they will do something. :nervous: :doze: :baaa:

Typical, barks without bites.

Ironically - I'm guessing these new Shemaroo DVDs of these Subhash Ghais films are going to be some of the most pirated - only available in Indian at the moment - they'll be all over the shops in replicated forms, soon :sus:

maybe one should remind Shemaroo that if they started shipping worldwide, the piracy of their products may go down.
They are shooting themselves in the foot by not shipping worldwide. If it is a copyright issue, they should be able to make some sort of a deal with the copyright holders.

If Shemaroo isn't allowed to distribute certain titles outside India, it usually means that someone else has the US/UK/Canada rights. This doesn't matter so much on some titles like Mission Kashmir and DEI discs, but unfortunately we cannot get good transfers of Raj Kapoor's films without somehow getting the Shemaroo discs here. (The YRF discs are a SHAM-a-roo).
