I saw indian grocery stores (in US) selling/renting Devdas DVD, which is definitely a bootleg (for US$15). But on the cover it says EROS ! The cover looks exactly same as the original one, It has a regular plastic case (unlike the original) and has only one disk in it. The video quality is horrible. No anamorphic widescreen. (I rented it and then returned it without paying -see paragraph below about renting). I have also noticed bootlegs, which have two movies on a single disk ! Lagaan and DCH COOL What a great picture quality it will be ! These 'two -in - one' DVDs are from DVD World Mumbai - India. Has anyone seen these ? You can find them on Ebay.

I noticed that the Indian Grocery stores in US are not carrying the original EROS release for rental. If you want to rent u have to rent the bootleg version! Another friend of mine noticed similar thing with Kaante. Is it becoming a new trend? So if we want to rent indian movies do we have to stick to the bootlegs ? :ffs:

The reason behind this is that the majority of Indian people don't care about video and audio quality of Indian DVDs. They can watch a dub VHS. They don't care ! I think problem is right there. Until we all refuse to rent bad quality DVDs this is going to continue.

Unfortunate! But right! Reason, people are not educated on this, and will never get! I dont think, this is changing, soon any ways..very soon, we will have DTS crap discs, then heigh def pirated stuff!!

Devdas pirated ws sold so much, same like K3G, Mohabtaen, MK, MW etc, that by the time Orig comes, Renting places dont have to buy orig!

Devdas, Orig was ONE OF THE BIGGEST SET BACK, in HINDIFILM history!

If you are looking for the original DVD for Lagaan. Look for the Columbia Tristar label. They own the rights to it. The sound is amazing. Full dolby digital surround sound. Same thing goes with Mission Kashmir.
