Story Synopsis : Jaanwar is a story of two men, with a very strict wealty and proud father. The Jaanwar is this film is played by their father, Prithviraj Kapoor, who has big plans for both his sons, which include marrying them to girls from well to-do families. However by chance, as well as destiny, the sons fall in love with poor and beautiful girls. What happens next ? Is the family split forever ? Wull their father accept their choices of girls ? Watch Jaanwar to find out, a classic Shammi Kapoor film from the 1960's.

Pros :-

1.) Excellent restoration work from a film made in the 1960's

2.) Audio is distortion free, without any hissing effects. This is much better than the audio presented in their earlier films (under their classics )

3.) Subititles have been provided for songs as well !

4.) Interactive menus

5.) Vibrancy in colors unlike their washed out effort for Agar Tum Na Hote !

Cons

1.) No real extras in the film

2.) Due to an old source used for transfer, we can see color changes in the same scene !

3.) Speckles and grainy effects also present in some scenes

4.) DVNR galore !!! Freeze a scene with motion and you can observe it yourself

Video Presentation 4:3 Pan and Scan

The term Pan & Scan is inappropriate in this case, since there is no panning or scanning involved in presenting this movie in 4:3 ratio. The reason being quite simple, Jaanwar was shot in 35mm film with non anamorphic lenses and presented in theaters as 4:3, therefore the original aspect ratio of the movie is 4:3 This is common to most movies from and before that period. The more appropriate way to describe the DVD would be, either as 4:3 OAR (original aspect ratio) or as 4:3 Full Frame.

Why do they continue to present mono in 2 channels rather just present it as Dolby 1 channel (MONO)?
