:D Right guys,

Have just completed work on 'phase 1' of the dvd databse. My aim is to compile a comprehensive database of "original" indian dvd's.... complete with reviews. For that I think we should have 4-5 reviewers (Ali, Lakeshore,???) who will be responsible for posting new reviews on it.

Limitations..... The site is currently on a free web hosting site and so there are numerous limits. Worst of all, too many users may crash the system. I am hoping to register an appropriate domain name and host it properly with an ISP soon.

In the meantime, please enjoy the site and remember it was the feedback from zulm.net that made the project possible. In the next phase I am hopping to include lots of other sections like Help, FAQ, Rating system etc.

If you are interested in being a reviewer for the site, post a response and I will forward you instructions on the matter.

Indian DVD World

Thankls for including a link to my site. I'm in the middle of a script to compare more DVDs, should have it online soon ... fingers crossed.

Excellent design and work! Will be very much appreciated by Indian DVD brigade. Keep it up – same goes to dvdstep.com too, with tighter integration of the two this will become the most useful resource for Indian DVD buyers

looks nice... something like that will be extremely helpful for DVD buyers..

question: is the rating a combination of the movie rating and the DVD quality rating?

also, I'd like to do some reviewing myself.. I have a number of DVD's at home and I am adding to my collection ... the only thing is I'm not an expert at looking for picture quality or audio quality (i.e even something that others think is terrible will be ok for me), but I guess that comes with practice. Other than that, I am an excellent writer, particularly with respect to constructive criticism.

The overall rating system is a combination of ratings from four sections; picture, sound, entertainment and extras. Each of this section is individually rated and the final rating is then automatically calculated from this.

Thanks for the site name suggestions, any ideas of a good and reliable ISP?

Hi Rahisha,

Well done. You are giving shape to your ideas.

"DVD Catalogue (Pages 1 2 )
Just an idea!"

I thoought you will be using info from zulm.net reviews/previews.

One thing I would expect from your data base is consistancy. You gave video rating of 4 stars for Dil To Paagal Hai. . I know, DTPH has not been previewed on zulm.net, but KKHH has been reviewed. KKHH review clearly states it to have a better video than DTPH. Even KKHH DVD has only a mediocore video (KKHH video is indicated as Film Source, where as DTPH video is not recognized as Film source). If you are consistent, DEI's KNPH will score over 10 stars but your max score is only 5 stars??.

yup! the reviews currently displayed are direct rip-offs from zulm.net. Hence I suggest we should have 4-5 consistent reviewers who can regularly contribute with reviews.

The idea is to only review original dvds and build the database to a 'first-stop' portal for indian dvds.

Very good work, Rahisha!! I am glad there is another place where Indian dvds are getting attention. I have tried to make a site with technical reviews but stopped half due to my busy schedule and Laziness :D. I think we should help to make this a great site!

BTW Ali, is Indian DVD World linked from zulm :DD:

Rahisha, just had a look at your site. Man its just fantastic. You have put a lot of work and thought in the layout and design. I think everyone in this forum will find it useful and I hope the reviewers give as much info as possible.

Good luck and wish you all the success.
