Maseeha

By Taran Adarsh

Time Magnetics (India) Ltd.'s MASEEHA, directed by Parto Ghosh, is a typical masala fare.

When anarchy prevails and the screams of the downtrodden become lifeless, a saviour is born to eliminate the tyrants and put an end to their immoral activities.

Surajbhan (Mukesh Rishi) is the name of one such despot and Shantinagar is the base of his illegal activities. D.C.P. Shrivastav (Mohan Joshi) and Inspector Thapar (Shiva) are hand-in-glove with him.

Krishna (Sunil Shetty) is a victim of Surajbhan's atrocities and has returned from jail after serving a sentence. He learns of Surajbhan's renewed reign of terror and the growth of his illegal activities.

How Krishna frees Shantinagar from the clutches of Surajbhan, forms the crux of the film.

The story of the film has nothing new to offer – it's an amalgamation of several Hindi films released earlier. The story hardly moves in the initial portions, but does pick up with Sunil Shetty's introduction. But the expectations pale subsequently as Sunil's role lacks substance.

Another drawback is that it has violence/action in abundance. Moreover, the songs keep coming at regular intervals without any rhyme or reason. The stale look is also evident.

Parto Ghosh's direction is uninspiring, mainly due to a weak script. Musically, a letdown. Dialogues are oft repeated.

Sunil Shetty seems to be repeating himself. Namrata Shirodkar hardly gets any scope. Inder Kumar and Manik Bedi are just about okay. Mukesh Rishi stands out with his villainy, although he tends to go over the top in a few sequences.

On the whole, MASEEHA has nothing new to offer, which will tell on its business.

Rating:- *.

yeah i thought the same but going by the review it seems he might be doing a bit more than a guest appearance.
