Hollywood has made a number of movies depicting one of its stars. Bollywood has given us only one (Zubeida) of Alam Ara
fame. If you were given the reign to produce and direct, which character would you choose. The condition is that the character has to be from entertainment community.

To me it would be:

Meena Kumari

A brief bio:
She was the tragedy queen of bollywood. She was a strong and independant character who did not subordinate to her husband (Kamal Amrohi), who was considered as a genius in many circle. She was a poet whose poems were published after her death under pseudonym Naaz.

i beleive Eeshwar was somewhat inspired by Raj Kapoor.. Which is one of my all time favourite movie.

Remake of Eeshwar or complete life story of Raj Kapoor would be nice. I think Mani Ratnam, Gulzar, Farhan Akhtar would be ones who would be able to do justice should this be on celluloid.

Not entirely true. BHUMIKA directed by Shyam Benegal was based on the life and times of Hansa Wadkar a yesteryear heroine of the Marathi talkies, and her autobiography entitled SAANGTE AIKA ("Listen Up, I Speak").

The movie itself was a captivating account of a restless soul as she sought solace in the arms of many a man.

SAAZ by Sai Paranjpe was again loosely based on the Mangeshkar sisters Lata & Asha. A lot of it was changed towards the end however, yet the relevant parts were still in there.

One film in the pipeline is SHEEN, based on the life of Music Director Nadeem.

P.S.

There was another Feature Film based on "both artificial legged" dancer from Maharashtra. (don't remember the name)

The on going Tanuja Chandra - Juhi Chawla film believed to be titled "Vaasta" has apparently changed its directives.

Originally, the film was to be focused on the life of a film actress who returns to the industry after her career fell apart.

It now appears the focus will also be on Juhi Chawla´s life itself! The film is believed to start shooting in January of 2003.

I heard something about Aish Rai's mother was writing a script on Aish Rai's life. I personally don't think Aish Rai is great or important enough to deserve a biopic on her life.

Anyway I think the following list is of stars who deserve a biopic made of them:

Raj Kapoor (a great life-story)
Guru Dutt (a tragedy)
Nargis
Kishore Kumar
Meena Kumari (another tragedy)
Sanjeev Kumar (yet another tragedy)
Madhubala
Smita Patil

YES, all the above are DEAD...which I think is why people see them as legendary.

And please! Nadeem! That idiot! He certainly doesn't deserve a film on him, what are they gonna show?, that he had nothing do do with the murder of Gulshan Kumar, well how does the director know for sure? They're gonna mislead the public by making a film showing him to be innocent, when it may not be true to life, just because the director is a friend of Nadeem!
It'll be much better to make a film about R.D Burman or Mohd. Rafi or Kishore Kumar, rather than Nadeem!

:ffs:

I would like to see Guru Dutt's life story.

Was Guru Dutt's Kagez Ke Phool somewhat biographical description of his own life??

Well yes sort of...it was a case of life imitating art. He was in real life in love with Waheeda Rehman, his co-star and I think he was already married to another woman. I think he drank his life away. Someone in a similar position was Sanjeev Kumar, who liked Hema Malini, who turned him down and got pregnant for Dharmendra (an already married man) - his co-stars in Sholay, which really was crushing for him, so he took to the bottle to down his sorrows. Also I heard Meena Kumari drank her life away over Dharmendra. There should be biopics on on these people!
