I thought I will never say this about DEI but here it goes. Bees Saal Baad is their first crappy DVD release. A classic gone to DOG's in this transfer. The original film print used here has so much wear and tear that it should have been given it's last rites. PARTS OF SCENCES MISSING,PART'S OF SONGS MISSING,DARK SCENCES LACK DETAIL,SOUNDTRACK THE LESS SAID THE BETTER.This DVD belong in the garbage. Avoid this one at all costs, you are better off with a VHS if you have one. It's my fault for not bothering to view it first thinking DEI means quality Boy was I wrong. I hope this is not a sign of DEI is going the EROS or YRF way. A while ago in one of my posts I wanted a disclaimer from DEI for continuing to sell Teesri Manzil by EROS at their site now I can say "Jo khud sheeshe ke ghar me rahte hain woh dusaron ke ghar mein patthar nahin phaktey".

I GONNA RETURN THIS ONE FOR SURE.

More disappointed than pissed off at DEI.

so that I do not have to watch this crappy dvd. :0

The only reason crappy prints are tranferred to DVD is because of greed or probably they think people are blind. I expected more from DEI but I guess I was wrong. By the way DEI used the same print which was previously used for several bootleg VHS by different companies both legit & bootleg.

This isn’t the first, certainly wont be last from DEI. Last week when topic of Kaash DVD came up, I naturally assumed the DVD being from DEI would be good quality. But nearly half the film print used on it was damaged – it beggars belief that they released it that way. Aadmi, Adalat, Agar Tum Na Hote and probably others have had extensive damaged on original prints which should not have been used for a DVD transfer.

DEI DVD quality like all the other Indian DVD authors have significantly degraded even for new films; ala Abhay :(

So pissed off for wasting my hard earned money. This was the first DVD I brought to start my collection. Took it tright back and demanded my money back didn't care if i created a hungama at the store. Can't believe the quality of this crap. I'm going to stick to my VHS collection quality might not be great but at least movies are complete. Hold on to you VHS.
I have been reading posts at ZULM well guys technology doesnot mean going forward it means desi's find way to make a quick buck weather it's DEI or DVD pirates they are all cut from the same dhoti.

oh yes another thing this guy at a local desi video sold me some crappy EROS dvd telling me it's the best trasnfer he has ever seen. Took it back and while shaking his hands told him very nicely not to take me for a fool.

heard a rumor that it might be released by Shemroo in India. Shemroo quality is not great but at least movie will be complete (like pakeezah,mugal-e-azam). Will have to wait and see.

A questions for Sundish @ DEI didn't you preview the print of Bees saal baad prior to approving it for transfer to DVD. If you had seen the print I'm sure it's flaws would have been clear to you as a daylight. So if these flaws were evident what was the motivation behind release of this DVD;
1) was it to make a fast buck
2) Did you think most of the desi's are blind and don't know the difference bewteen a crappy & a good DVD.
3) Didn't want to spend $ for a quality print.
4) or do you take fifth and claim any knowledge of quality of this print.
5) were you asleep while this print was being reviewed.

You need to fire individual responsible for this fiasco,oh I just realized you can not fire yourself.

I (Sundish@DEI) think most Desi's are blind and don't know difference between a crappy and a good DVD.

I tried to cancel my order but unfortunately (so iw claims)
did not get my email on time and they sent me this dvd. I tried to watch but within the first half hour I got so angry at the quality of the dvd that I almost threw the disk out of the window. Iam returning it back to iw. If Sandish from DEI is reading this, I want him to make a personal apology for producing such a crap. This dvd is ten times worse than the baba version of Amar Akbar Anthony.

Pardesi, Apology from Sundish @ DEI, it's not gonna happen. It was only question of time before DEI went the EROS,YRF's way. Since DEI & others have started dishing out crappy DVD's of recent movies using rather poor transfer source, 15+ years oldies have now less of a chance making onto a DVD in a quality transfer.

Between piracy and Companies like DEI,EROS,YRF's it feels like one is caught between a rock and a hard place. So hold on to those VHS,quality might be poor but aleast you won't have to play a guessing game with all those missing scences (you don't have to be genius to figure that out),that I can live with but when that happens during a song that really pisses me more than anything.

For me deteriorated prints should not used for transfers-PERIOD- but that's not gonna happen and if companies like DEI and others have to use those prints the only decent thing for them is to inform consumers"TRANSFER SOURCE USED HERE MAY SHOW SIGNS OF DETERIORATION" (kawwa kabhi hans ki chal nahin chalta).

The only company which does that with some of their releases is YRF by stating REPRODUCED FROM VINTAGE SOURCE on back of the DVD jewel box,So when I see that statment it a warning sign for me to stay away. It's only a question of time before YRF will stop making that statement
as the consumers become more intelligent buyers.

We all know what the problem is,they know what we are complaining about but as long as they put profits before quality it may not happen for a very long long time. We have seen one does not have to sacrifice quality for profits,case-n-point all those Hollywood releases.

This year I'm going to hope for at least one quality Bollywood DVD of an oldie (I guess that's asking for too much).

I'm sure not many of us don't have $ to throw around and these scums (DEI,EROS,YRF,Videosound &others) will just about lie, cheat, deceive just to steal our hard earned money. Most of time I just don't know what's under those flashy, inviting DVD covers. There are not many sites like Zulm providing info on DVD releases, and most of the time I can get info on new DVD releases but for oldies there is almost none except a few posts. Hopefully I can count on some Zulmies to include more info on some oldies like Iman Dharm,Phir wohi Raat,Radha Ka sangam,Khel,Pyasa,Sangam etc in their posts.

Right on Lake it does feel like we're caught between a rock and a hard place.
