Something is not right. Either the SS or the film credits??

SS are from late 60s/ early 70s color film starring Rajender Kumar and Waheeda Rehmaan. One of rare films where Waheeda is in a glamour role.
Another one of James Bond/ Spy spoofs after Jeetender's Farz.

Film titles JB posted are from perhaps a 1946 B/W film of same name.

Saw EROS DVD of Shatranj. It's a much better print than Ultra shots posted above.

(Still, it's PAL to NTSC Field Averaged)

The EROS DVD has adverts for Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, so EROS DVD must have been around since long.

1979 CC shows 4806 meters (175 min). DVD is uncut from the 1979 version, it's 168 min due to 4% speed up.

This one (Rajinder Kumar, Waheeda Rehman) is spy masala film like Farz, Inspector etc. Don't think Hollywood DVD cos will bring out it's DVD.

Perhaps you are mixed up with Satyajit Ray's Shatranj Ke Khilari, which very well may have been released by a Hollywood Co or by Criterion ??
