Just to reiterate info from another thread;

Jolly (from indiandvdfilms.com) have said that Gadar DVD will be released by GVI in the UK with "making of gaddar,antahshri gaddar and awards of gaddar no extra scenes at pres .will be 5.1 and anamorphic and redone by media sounds in usa"

Other re-issued titles from GVI include;

tum bin
yeh raastet hai pyar ke
tera jadoo chal gaya

..but all are no better than the already available Video Sound DVDs as same masters have been used to do these DVDs too.

Will the Gadar DVD be R0 NTSC?? I certainly hope so because there are many people in the US who want to buy this version of the film on DVD.

Companies shouldn't have to use other masters, thats just dam lazy. Come on Jolly/GVI do your own masters, in original aspect ratio and original 5.1 sound, and show Video-Sound the way its done!!

Both Tum Bin & Mujhe Kuch Kehna was modest hits and deserve better treatment. If you build up your reputation with new remastered prodcuts then many won't buy Video-sound discs they will wait for your version to release. Otherwise you'd be no better then Video-Sound (or EROS) and will ultimatly become muppets!

Gadar I'm sure will be R0 NTSC.

From what I know of tum bin, yeh raastet hai pyar ke, tera jadoo chal gaya - all be 're-mastered' (to coin jolly's phrase) from the same masters as the Video Sound version. So mostly likely they'll be very similar to the Video Sound versions in terms of video quality. Don’t know any details on sound, or if the sound is getting mastered again - not much hope for that happening me reckon though.

And apparently GVI and Video Sound are the same! GVI just handle all Video Sound cinema and DVD distribution in Europe.

Again I would wait and see what actually happens with Gadar and others before pre-ordering.

What is the point of getting the GVI release if it will basically use the guts of the rubbish Video Sound version.

Sounds as if this will be a waste of time for consumers who end up with two similar discs which use the same master.

What does that mean exactly? Apart from the extras, what will be the difference?

Hopefully proper 5.1 audio and anamorphic video in its correct AR - otherwise I don’t think it any point in doing this – then again even with proper 5.1 and anamorphic video the quality has to be decent not like Eros!

Jolly you reputation hangs in the balance :p

The presently available DVD of GADAR is 1.85:1. Therefore, if the new release is "Original Aspect Ratio" (2.35:1), it has to be from a new master. God forbid, they don't cut off 1.85:1 from top and bottom, or squash it vertically, to make it 2.35:1. I have high hopes from JOLLY.
