So far, I've rented 4 or 5 discs that have had trouble playing. Some discs would freeze or pixellate while it was a Herculean task to get others to even play in the first place. I don't experience this with Blockbuster or even public library rentals. Has anyone else been this frustrated sometimes with renting Indian DVDs?

I'm not too surprised that you say that, infact, the Indian DVD stores around my area, the owners have began a tendency to ask customers when returning films back after a nightly rental that if the DVD disc contained any freezing problems etc. And when I ask why such questions are asked with almost every customer? The Answer -> "we have gotten alot of complients by people who buy DVDs from us that the DVDs freezs at many points throughout the film and its mostly Eros DVDs that do this, which is making our business look bad" :stupid:

I don't think any of the problematic discs I rented were Eros. In fact, here are the ones I can remember that have given me trouble:

Hera Pheri- Video Sound
Abhay- DEI
Thiruvilayadal- Ayngaran
Bombay- Ayngaran
(forgot to add that Chandralekha also froze up towards the end)

All of these discs were from one Indian grocery store. I have not had any problems with the discs I rented from the Indian video nearby, nor have I had any problems with any discs I have purchased. This includes Thiruvilayadal, which I purchased shortly after renting it.

Video Sound DVDs are notoriously known for their skipping and freezing problems. Enough people complained about Abhay DVD too
