While the interview with Columbia Tri-Star was mainly focused on how Lagaan is the first Indian movie to be released on DVD by a major American company, and how Americans are becoming more aware of Indian culture, the food, and the entertainment. The Article did point out that Columbia Tri-Star is debating doing Mission Kashmir on DVD. At the time of the article no official announcement has been made as of yet by Columbia Tri-Star The interview is from the print edition for the date 12-21-01 New York edition.

Well this is good news as quality will be much better on Columbia-Tristar and secondly they will be more aggressive in combating piracy of thier DVD's.

MK by Columbia-Tristar would be great.
Not only because the DVD will be good quality but also
because they make a HD transfer. And this transfer might
be shown on US TV (HBO for example) which would give
us the first Indian film on HD. If you tape it then you
have 35mm quality at home. I hope Lagaan is aired in
HD in 2003.

I think Lagaan will be used as a market tester too – if this does well hopefully more films will come from CT on DVD and they really couldn’t have picked a better flick to start with.
