Pyar Ka Mausam

Film 1969 CC = 4425 meters = 161 min
EROS DVD is PAL to NTSC field averaged, 153 min (159 min assuming 4% speedup)

Does not look like a big discrepancy but most likely what it might be, is in-excusable.

The most popular song of this film, Kishore Kumar version of Tum Bin Jaaoon Kahan is just 2 min in the beginning of the film and again a very slow sing later on, same lyrics. I never realized, it's just a 2 min version. How could it be just a 2 min version and still be the most popular from this film where a 7-8 min version of Mohd Rafi is also there.

There is an extra verse in HMV/ RPG audio album that's not in the DVD, 'Kitni Akeli Si Pehle Thi Yehi Duniya' that can account for the 2 min discrepancy. This verse is very relevant for that scene and makes me wonder, why did they (DVD makers or Film makers) remove this verse ??

Would love to see this Kishore Kumar sung verse in video.

A new version of Pyar Ka Mausam was uploaded on youtube this month. In content it is the same as EROS DVD. This new version is from Zee Music Company. EROS print was interlaced, most likely from VHS. This new transfer from Zee is better although still not HD. It is 25 fps, no repeat frames. Meanig 4% speed up, same as EROS DVD.

Zee Youtube version is better but you need to increase the brightness.

EROS DVD has that interlacing flicker/ rain. Zee one is clear digital (no flicker/ rain) but frames are not sharp as they should be for a film to digital conversion. Perhaps, it's due to interlace source, made progressive using some de-interlacing method ??

Its a fairly good print. The color rendition is a big upgrade from the DVD versions, as can be noticed in the 'Na Ja O Mere Humdum' song. Asha Parekh's outfit looks significantly different in both the versions.
