I saw SUJATA on Shemaroo DVD last night. While the movie was pretty good, the quality of the picture and sound were really bad. As Shuman said earlier: an extremely soft picture. Also the sound was not optimal. Sometimes I would just read the subtitles to understand what they just said. And as if this isn't bad enough, it's so obvious after watching the film that I-don't-know-how-many scenes are cut. For instance, after the song "Bachpan ke din" there's a scene in which Sujata brings tea for her "parents" and leaves. The parents are talking about Sujata's marriage and suddenly someone knocks on a door or something. Someone obviously came for a visit. After the knocking the scene is cut, and we see the next scene.
Next scene, it's dark and raining outside, and the parents are just entering the house:
Father: "You shouldn't have hurt Sujata at tea"
Mother: "I didn't mean to, but you know Aunty.
She would have refused to be served by Sujata."
Is it just me or is a scene missing in which the mother hurts Sujata by saying something she did not like? I think the Aunty (played by Lalita Pawar) came for a visit, but they cut the whole scene.
