Dear members,

I just received Hungama dvd by Shemaroo from an Amazon fullfilled company. When I viewed it on TV, the quality was really good and much better then the Rainbow/Venus dvd. My only complaint is the runtime. It has a runtime of 147 min while the Rainbow dvd had a runtime of 2 hrs 32 min. Is there any reason why there is a 5 min diff. in runtime?

On the Shemaroo website, i saw that this dvd was only available to purchase in India, and not internationally. I did however buy this dvd from a company from Kentucky (Lola's Dream).

Since this dvd was only available to purchase in India, could it be that the shemaroo source was a PAL converted to DVD? I also read about the 4% speed as well.

Venus Hungama DVD is Pseudo Prog (i.e. Film to NTSC).

I don't have Shemaroo DVD so can't say if it's PAL to NTSC, but Shemaroo has been churning out "Film to PAL to NTSC" DVDs often.

If it's Film to PAL to NTSC, then the 5-6 min time diff will account for this discrepancy. Check your DVD playback on a fast moving scene at a very slow speed or frame by frame and note the pattern.

If it's 1 2 3 4-Repeat, 1 2 3 4 4-Repeat, then it's Film to NTSC.

If it's 1 2 3 4 5 5-Repeat, 1 2 3 4 5 5-Repeat or if therew is no pattern at all or not noticeable because all frames are fuzzy or multi-image, it's PAL to NTSC.

BTW, Venus Pseudo-Prog DVD is not bad (and it's anamorphic as well). No matter how well done, PAL to NTSC Field Averged DVD can't be better than Venus Pseudo-Prog DVD, irrespective of anamorphic or not.

It's a speedup, simple...do research online/google. No cuts were made by any company that I can speak of.
