Official SHEMAROO DVD
23 newly released DVDs

It was great to see a lots of DVD titles added on the Indian Shemaroo site.

Some of these titles, I am sure, you will want to get your hands on ASAP. For me it will be Jab Jab Phool Khile, Awaara Paagal Deewana, Kaajal, Chori Chori Chupke etc.

Its well known here, that I prefer progressive DVDs and the Shemaroo DVDs are all “thoroughly interlaced” (no frames repeated in 24 to 30 conversion). Still Shemaroo DVDs have a brilliant pic. And are a lot better than other brands, except DEI, available here.

Let’s hope we can get these DVDs here soon.

..interesting to see how Shemaroo have transferred the newer film onto DVD. They normally tend to crop the video and most titles are non-anamorphic. They did do some titles for Eros - like Jodi No.1 - which was anamorphic and had decent 5.1 track too, so they are cable of doing decent releases.

Any reliable supplier of these DVDs? Hoping IW gets them soon :thumbs:

Hi Ali,

Nice to see a proper review of a Shemaroo title.

A few clarifications pls.:

1) According to your scores, looks like DEVDAS is a notch better than Bullet.

2) So far the Shemaroo titles I have picked up here, have all been at dirt cheap prices and were totally interlaced. i.e. have 30 distinct frame video out of a 24 frame film. This gives multi-images in fast moving frames. As the price I paid here was so ridiulously low, that I am not sure if they were exactly the same as Shemaroo releases in India.
To settle my doubts, could you please tell me how is the Bullett DVD; prog or interlaced. If interlaced, do you get multi-images in some fast moving frames.

Bullet is interlaced as in you get combing effects when you force weave mode in powerdvd - you do get double images on high motion scenes.

As for the authenticity of this Bullet DVD - I think its a proper DVD from Shemeroo - it has a proper chapter index inlet card, is on a gold dual layered disc with Shemero printed on the disc rim.

The only thing added is a sticker on the back with distributors details; Bombay Music House – I remember Soven releases being released in association with BMH while back too.

just received 6 DVDs from shemaroo.. (pakeezah, sangam, mera gaon mera desh, bobby, prem rog, mera naam joker) they all have big S-shemaroo hologram on the cover. and also have a bonus booklet listings of all vcds, vhs, cds, dvds, etc.

does the "Bullet" has any hologram or any bonus booklet? if not, i guess that that's only with the old releases not the new ones that became available recently.. what you say

by the way, will be receiving 9 more shortly... :) i was always pleased with shemaroo prints comparing to yashraj cr*p releases... many many thanks to shemaroo.. hope release the remaining raj kapoor title dvds shortly plsss.

Bullet doesn't have any booklet as such but does have the hologram on the cover.

May be a dumb question...

Are the shemaroo DVD available in NTSC format? If yes, where?

According to shemaroo website Shemaroo FAQs, they don' ship DVDs outside.
