Who can prove this trick-Cause they will tahe the order and has 2 to 3 days to ship..

no one. ppl like us, though we have the DVD on hand, has to wait because we want to "obey" the policy of not opening the box until retailers across the nation get the DVDs.

in english, we get the DVDs 1 week before and sometime even 2 weeks before, but we cant open, otherwise will face $500 penality. unless hindi folks enforce such strict penality (lets get rid of piracy first right!) no one can do anything.

These bollywood stars such as Amitabh, Shahrukh talk about piracy and then they go and act in rip-off hollywood movies....Amitabh should be ashmed. He is always whining about the name bollywood...Then don't act in frame-frame copy of Man on fire(Ek Ajnabee)..Its pathetic.

And if you go to EUrope, no one really cares about piracy. You know why? Because in most european countries EXCEPT UK..all movies are avaialbe freely..(pirates) with good prints..dvd quality.

If they want to stop piracy..RELEASE the MOVIE 1 week after its on the theater...I mean NAINA Is still waitint to get on DVD..which was a rip off the EYE>.what are they waiting for? WOrldwide release?

If I had a choice, I would buy a pirate movie 10 out of 10 times..because I am sick of these big companies not getting the way of doing business..

It doesn't seem like a scam. Rather they are not competent in getting their goods out to their clients. or rather their clients are not competent in ordering their goods.

No offense DU, but majority of Indian Retailers and distributors are total nimrods. Telugu DVD's MSRP is around $14.99(though they sell em for less), the local shops carry the same dvd for $22+Tax, and they wonder why they don't sell? They don't know simple economics. They want to get great prices from manufacturers/distributors just because they are retailers. Not like they buy telugu dvds in bulk or anything.

I won't lie. The promo on the Mangal Pandey dvd for Salaam Namaste was pretty funny, I guess. But it had nothing to do with the film, even though I've never seen it.

WOW 22+Tax, where is it? I am trying to sell for 12/13 in my retail store and still doesnt sell. Telugu DVD market is totally spoiled by the entry of idream, kad and other companies into retailer market. KAD is better in the sense that we can compete with their prices and still make a $ or two profit, but idream prices are same as they sell on their online site or sometime $1 less, so we decided to stop selling idream DVDs. I know their quality is good blah blah blah, but its not enough to justify us to have a retail space and money locked for such a low profit. anyways, the DVD prices are depending upon the competition.

The A-hole at Raaga. They have an Edison branch too, I believe. That's right $22+tax for a lot of horrible dvds. There are some that are selling for a little less, but the guy makes it seem like a great bargain to unsuspecting customers. He is selling Thiruvasgam CD only edition for $19.99 + tax, even today.

I don't blame KAD/iDream for posting such low prices on their websites, because Telugu DVD market is very slim & they really can't afford the middle men, considering how much money they spend just aquiring rights to films. although I strongly believe KAD should be selective in their choice of films and release good dvds rather than picking up every garbage off the producers inventory and bringing sub-idream dvds.

Hmm... I know they are in Edison, but never been there in 3 years.

Coming back to idream and kad, they have to know that the best way to reach customer is through retailers. honestly people come to my store to buy their DVDs and I redirect them to another store who sell VHS for $2, so net net its a loss for idream/kad.

iDream is a new entry. But EVP/KAD and others have tried that whole retail thing. They used to sell at the standard $19.99. KAD didn't open up their online store till 2 years back(?). gulti's are no less cheapskates than other indians. worse, there are too few of them. I think where KAD is making their money is in Silicon Valley, Sunny Vale with theater exhibitions.
