Jus watched it on Vasantham. The girl's acting was really commendable and so was the sincerity with which the film was made. However, it was technically shoddy, especially the cinematography. Also, the director went mildly overboard with the preaching to the public bit. I wish these kind of films with good screenplays had access to better budgets. The ending was really heartwrenching...

I admit if the film's budget was higher then the weak technical values could have improved, but to be fair the film was still a great movie, and shows that in indeed content is always better then technicality. Right Mr Lucus? Mr Vikram Bhaat?

If you enjoied Kutty then I also recommend other wonderful small budget Indian films like Nandhaa, Kasi, Chandi Bar, and Monsoon wedding.

Though the technical values weren't totally excellent, I liked the cinematography. The compositions are not particularly great, but you really get a sense of the layout of the apartment. It was a bit preachy with the ending text screen. Did we really need to read that after seeing this film? I doubt that Cinemascope and DTS sound would have improved this film. It was a very touching and necessary film with good performances all around. What is Vasantham?

I must say that I am very pleased that such films are still made in especially in Tamil films. The little girl's acting was very touching.

What I was put off was by the background music which was not subtle and sympathetic enough. The sad part was it was composed by illairaja. surely he could have done better. The cinematography was a little inconsistent could have done with better lighting. Screenplay was good but the shopkeeper's comedy was a bit irrelevant to the main story.
Overall it was a commendable effort by the director.
