The dvd of this acclaimed Tibetan movie has been released in India by Shemaroo. I wonder what's the AR on the dvd, and if the shemaroo edition has the full uncut movie. The movie's been rated "R" in the U.S. for strong sexuality and some nudity

Runtime reported by IMDB Argentina:138 min / Germany:145 min / USA:138 min (what's the run on shemaroo?)

As reported on indiaplaza.in, “Samsara” is the first feature film to be entirely shot at an altitude of 15000 ft...

Don't know about the Shemaroo DVD but they are perfectly decent DVDs of this movie already out. Review of the R4 PAL Australian DVD with comparison with R2 PAL German DVD;

Many of the crew may be Hong Kong Chinese, but the film is totally shot in Ladakh and the plot is Ladakh. There is some interaction with Hindi speaking people. I don't know how similar or de-similar Ladakhi is to Tibetan, the language spoken in the film is Hindi & Ladakhi.

At the time of film showing in Canada, it was classified as: 'Country: France/ Italy/ India'
I don't think Indian DVD would have the adult scenes un-cut.

Samsara is showing on TV, tonite at 1 AM (Ottawa time) on CBC French channel.

I don't think, Samsara DVD has officially releaed in North America yet. So, here is your chance, although the subtitles most likely will be in French. Spoken language in film is Laddakhi and some Hindi.

TV showing was all in French.

Was uncut but by French TV standards, it was rated "G". :o

BTW, Film clearly shows story taking place in Laddakh, India.

Samsara is good...here's the link to the trailer of the director's new movie VALLEY OF FLOWERS. It's a great film as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rk87L544DRM

I have the excellent quality Thai DVD of this film, anamorphic, DD 5.1, English subtitles. It's selling for a bargain of 10 bucks. Here's the link: http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=32285
