I received my copy of the 2-disc set from Music Yogi today and after seeing it with my own eyes, the sharpness is undoubtedly poorer than the Columbia DVD and the colours look overly yellow/green to me. On the plus side, the clarity is superior on the Excel version (less pixellating, dirt, scratches) and the audio is first class.

I definitely do want to extend a big thanks to Aadarsh and Music Yogi for the excellent customer service. They kept me updated almost daily on the status of my order, and the package itself was wrapped very securely. Kudos! :)

Thanks everyone, really, feel proud to be on this forum -- I feel enriched whenever I read your posts and replies :-)

I have a thought to share -- on zulm.net, we tend to compare dvds (in most cases) purely on PQ. On a dvd, the available space is managed by decisions on how much sound quality and how much picture quality is achievable, etc.

I really believe we should select overall winners based on all these and other factors, and not just on PQ.

My own comments on Excel PQ and Sound... give me some time to get today's office work out of the way and I'll post :-)

Special thanks to user INMAN for showing us the offers on the top two sites MusicYogi and Indiatimes

depends on the kind of collector you are, and also depends on how involved you are with a certain title, I'd say :)

For example: I already have Lagaan R3 -- but I went in for the Excel 3-dvd and Excel 1-dvd as well. But I may not do this for every movie/dvd.

Some other titles I went for multiple versions/editions are:
1. Sholay
2. Bride And Prejudice
3. Apocalypse Now
4. Waqt (B.R. Chopra)
5. Alexander (Oliver Stone)
6. Star Wars - Original Trilogy
7. Refugee (J.P. Dutta)
8. Chariots Of Fire
9. Dances With Wolves
10. Leon a.k.a. Leon The Professional a.k.a. The Professional

What are your thoughts? Do share...

What is it that will trigger you to go for a second copy/edition of a title. If you recognize that trigger in yourself for Lagaan, go for the Excel LE...

Bring on the Blue Ray of Lagaan and I'll buy if good quality.
