Thanks Rana,
For the link and also for the detailed thread. Good work. Very good comparison between the 2 versions.

I got my DEI copy. I just scanned through my work computer. As expected better colors and contrast than EROS version. The image does have depth even though it looks kind of grainy. More observations latter.

Ali and Arsh,
I found this DVD quality on par with your observations. It sucks, even thou it has better picture and better sound than B4U. Probably one of the worst transfers done by DEI. And probably one of the worst film mode transfers to DVD.

I bought The movie Sholay a few days back when it was on sale for $3.99. Even though the movie was old I found that the dvd was better than our brand new junk Devdas. It is only my opinion. I am comparing between an old classic Sholay and a new classic Devdas. $3.99 VS $21.99

Any comments? :ffs:

looks gimmicky...remember a while ago..jolly aka con-artist sed that sholay would re-release soon..but under a different label...maybe Eros are trying to milk it as much as possible before they hand over the rights to the other company..

Any confirmation on whether this is true? Are there other sites advertising it as a re-release?

I think they are trying to promote it as a re-release, but it's probably just the same transfer. You can't expect anything amazing from Eros!

A place called Ramnagaram not far from Bangalore on the way to Mysore. Nope none of the sets are in existence anymore.
