Seriously though - I don’t think it's plausible as I think Sholay rights hang in balance. I’m not sure if Eros are the proper right holders – I remember reading somewhere that Sholay rights were disputed especially concerning the original sound track – there disputed somewhere by someone anyway <!--emo&:wot:

Rights are disputed. Doesn't it put SHOLAY in public domain?
Key is to get the source material. DEI-EROS had an excellent film available to them. Audio-Video was excellent but in those days DEI made all their DVDs non anamorphic 1.85:1 (cropped). A remastered 2.35:1 anamorphic DVD from the same film source can be a lot better than the EROS-DEI version.
Then, there was a Directors cut by EROS which added picture on all 4 sides of the frame making it more complete. I am sure Director Sippy co-operated here. Audio Video was not as good as the DEI-EROS version. I don't know, who faltered here; was the source film print bad or the authoring?
What we need is DEI-EROS's source film print, remastered for anamorphic DVD.
Ultimate will be Director Sippy supplied good film print authored for Director approved AR DVD which should be Anamorphic if Wide-screen. It is possible that the print that Sippy has, has only 2 Ch audio, in which case, director can select audio from DEI-EROS's film source which was multi-channel. A few patch-ups will be required as well to make it a Director's Cut.
