Sarvam - MAYBE - Depends on Box Office Performance
Silambattam - NO

I'm assuming Kandasamy will be on BR! Not sure if this will make it to blu-ray. Pre-reports from insiders suggests that the film is poor - and will perform weak at the box office

thanks

Of course all actors make mistakes. But Kamal went more overboard then most. His make-up was really really really bad.

Going by his previous films audiences expect more from Kamal Hassan movies. Rajini is known for his style and presence hence our expectations on his acting/script are low. Many just love his old school cinema screen presence.

I also felt Kamal played on stereotypes of other races - and made them caricatures instead of characters.

PS) Rajini didn't look that bad in Sivaji. In fact his scene as "Mottai Boss" made him a look rather cool - for his age!

Ouch. It almost felt like you rejected me with all those BOLD NO's.

So, it appears we should expect decent box office hits to end up on BR. Older releases are unlikely to ever be released on BR, except for Mani Ratnam films---which are overrated IMHO.

Why is ayngaran releasing the recent dvds without play all songs in the menu? This is not acceptable that this is one feature on the dvd I have always used.

Yes, me too. The first thing I do after I buy the dvd is play all songs. Recently I bought Dasavatharam, Ayan and Billa blu-ray. All three does not have play songs section. I hope Ayngaran will not do this for future dvds or blu-rays. That will really make me stop buying their dvds.

We've had to stop adding "play all songs" feature as the BBFC (UK Censor Board) added further costs to certify this feature separate from the film.
Further costs implication means increasing the RRP, which we chose not to do.

if it was my choice, i would have said 'no' (unbolded, and un capped ;-p) for all of them (except Bheema, 'cause i havent seen it yet), because all the movies were either average or really really crap (Silambattam!)

can someone rename this thread to "Ayngaran release thread" or something. I had wished to start one myself, but we already have such a similar thread.

Re: Box office success - there have been a lot of movies (Office Space, and such) that have been huge success on home video than at the theaters. The audience should decide! I personally didn't enjoy Telugu Pokiri at the theaters and know of others(kits..are you reading this? :P) that felt the same way but have enjoyed it on DVD.

Anyway, just want to see more releases on Blu-ray, if not now, hopefully in the future, regardless of how people feel about the movie. To each his own. I personally would go for a dumb Vijay/Simbu entertainer, than an artsy fartsy film that FAILS to deliver. At least with such films, you know what to expect, rather than to raise expectations only to fail.
