Metrodome ASOKA is too good to watch on NTSC TV. Watching Metrodome ASOKA on NTSC TV implies PAL to NTSC transfer somewhere.

Which version, Metrodome PAL version or First Look NTSC version??

You said HDTV. HDTV is not NTSC. NTSC compatible yes.

As the DVD is PAL and your TV is NTSC, PAL signal has to be converted to NTSC. Your computer or video card may or may not have this capability. Computers are very powerful and format conversion software can easily be downloaded free from somewhere (Kaza). sknath or Ali can guide you on that. I am nil in that aspect.

But, I don`t see the point. Why give up progressive Lap Top (or CRT) monitor for an interlaced TV, unless the TV is over 36 inches.

ashegam... u miss the whole point... when u get the display on ur computer.. its a digital quality picture ! (equiv to what u would see on ur HDTV).. when u take it out through ur S video outout u are automatically degrading the quality..

ASOKA will be on SHOWCASE (Canada) TV on Dec 19 at 10 PM (EST). Time allotted is 3 hr 34 min which includes commercials and introduction by the hosts.

SHOWCASE is not our Desi TV where everything goes. I hope they show this movie directly from film to NTSC and not use the First Look's PAL to NTSC converted DVD. If it's direct film to NTSC, then it's VHS or SVHS recording may come out better than First Look's official DVD.

This seems to be the short version (not by much). Out of 3 hr 34 min, take away at least 50 min for commercials and 3 min for introductory comments, and you are left with 2 hr 41 min max. I think the movie was much longer.

It was shown in India on Star TV quite a while ago.

Arsh, Sorry to butt in on your conversation with Sanjay, but just one comment about Showcase ASOKA:

Showcase presentations are directed at main stream Canadian audiences and are normally un-cut (or edited to suit the target audience, in this case minus a few songs). The transmission is not the substandard Desi standard (If some one interested, I can list the Desi standards) , but top notch professional transmission.
