Are my eyes deceiving - It looks like the cropping is more than 5-10% . I already think 1.33:1 is a poor choice for the movie ( was widescreen not popular in the 60’s ?) and add cropping atop of it - this is terrible ! .

I might be pushing you here , but Arsh bhai can you post snapshots of color and B/W scenes (esp. scenes with Meenakumari - i seem to like her in B/W pics :p ) ?? .I love this movie ( it has grown on me really ) and to see such a treatment - Argh cannot digest it ! . BTW- what are the extras on the disk ??

Films were not widely shot in widescreen in India at this time. If Kaagaz Ke Phool had become a hit, then perhaps widescreen would have taken hold in the 60s itself.

The caps definitely do not look like they were cropped to widescreen then cropped on the sides again.

IIRC the first four shots posted are from the scenes originally in color, but the rest have that fakey colorized look

This film does not have Late Meena Kumari, but Madhubala!

black and White is from older Shemaroo version, I copied this shot from ali's review!!

i can see if I can capture a couple from older shemaroo version too, but that was last 30 minutes color to!

I know this film deserved widescreen, but may be K asif did not have access or Knowledge!

Pakeezah was shot in WS cinemascope!
I would love to see that print restored and remastered sound in OAR by some insan ka bacha! :x

I was wondering if they have released the full version of the movie on DVD - rather than the cut down version in the cinema. Does the DVD include the songs 'Hamen Kaash Tumse Mohabat Na Hoti', 'Bekas Pe Karam Kijiyai' and 'Ae Ishq Yeh Sab Duniya Walai'?

Thanks!

That means that there are 2 songs missing ... probably Hamen Kaash and Ae Ishq ... oh well I think that they will re-release this in a few months as a collectors edition!

3) Mohabbat Ki Jhooti Kahani Pe Roye
4) Hamen Kaash Tumse
5) Bekas Pe Karam Kijiye
6) Teri Mehfil Mein Kismat Azamakar
7) Yeh Dil Ki Lagi Kum Kya Hogi
8) Ae Isqh Yeh Sab Duniyawale
9) Khuda Nigheban Ho Tumhara

When you say the Shemaroo version do you mean the original b/w version? That version has all of the songs listed above in it. :?
