Well, can one really blame them?

I don't care if the dvd for a film like Indian Babu is top notch (anamorphic, dts, progressive, etc.), I still won't buy it because I have no desire in seeing the movie. Most people would rate the content on a dvd as the most important factor and I don't think one can argue with that. Style isn't much without substance.

The dvd for DDLJ from YRF, as bad as it is, I know I'm not going to get a better version anytime soon. And that's a film that I need to have my collection since my VHS copy sucks, so I had to overpay for a crap dvd but I can't say I regret it.

I would never buy Indian Babu even if it was reference quality either, but neither will I buy mediocre or often piss poor DVDs of good movies (in most cases). I would have more than 1 YRF title in my collection if the 1 title I did buy hadn't soured me on their product.

I tend to look at this type of situation on a title by title basis. If there is a film I want and the DVD is poor, I ask myself whether I want the film that badly. I would usually rather get 2 DEI DVDs or an 1 American DVD than 1 YRF DVD.

i agree totally with malfunxion. the quality is bad, yes. the prices are high, yes. but some of these films PROVIDE ENTERTAINMENT! if you like the movie a lot or like watching the songs over and over, you don't have much choice. as soon as dvd-writers drop in price, i should be able to balance the scales on yrf and eros.

When I watch a good DVD, I get absorbed into the film. It is hard for me to get absorbed into a film when I'm being barraged with video artifacts that constantly remind me that I'm watching a DVD, and a poorly made one at that.

Price isn't the only factor. Even if I found a bunch of Eros or YRF titles for $2, I would be reluctant to buy them. Did you see Eros' DVD of Bawandar? You can't even tell what's going on in many scenes because the dark scenes are handled so badly.

oh come on, not even for $2?

i guess the reason i think this way is because i'm more of a hindi movie lover than a dvd lover (and artifacts don't bother me as much).

The price isn't the only factor. I'd be willing to pay for a good DVD of a good film or a bad film with really good songs, but even at $2, I wouldn't necessarily be able to watch a bad quality DVD so many times.

I'm a DVD lover because I'm a movie lover. I don't mind a few problems here and there, but I would generally like the images to be what the filmmakers intended, without any video haze on top.

I don't know about this.

The Email that you sent WAS a little rude. I don't blame him for not answering.

But, the fact that he gave you his phone number and asked you to call him tells that he is willing to talk to you. Why not take him up on his request? The call won't cost that much and you can actually get something accomplished. Email isn't the best form of communication.

How many presidents of DVD companies would even answer emails or give you their number to call them?

Moviezzz, ever heard of the term GIMMICKS.....
and ever heard of a Dog's tail..... "12 baras nali mein rakkho" (talk all abt it on zulm and other forums)... "woh vaise ka vaise hi rahega" (they will still be the wankers) "nali taedhi ho jayegi" (zulm on the other hand might become morose in the process !).... No more gimmicks from EROS,, Unless they can match their deeds by words.. its useless to expect anything from them !

Hi,

The President of Eros did request the poster to give him a call. He felt the tone of the email was a bit harsh and not worthy of a reply. Instead, he wanted to discuss it civilly, over the phone. I can't blame him for that.

I'm not happy with the quality of some Eros DVDs as well. But you aren't going to solve anything by posting things here or making fun of him.

Give him a call, talk to him, that would get your point across better than 1000 emails.

Moviezz Madan Ahuja is not the president of EROS.. he is some down itsy-bitsy Chamca of EROS.... who had the temerity to scorn DVD_C's e-mail, rather than professionally acknowledge his e-mail.. and as for abusing .. I didnt see any abuse written on his e-mail... so I dont see what is so "abusive" abt that e-mail. If u wanna see some "abusive" e-mails, do glance through the posts that ppl make here on zulm !

Some eros DVDs? I don't think that they have authored any good DVDs since they distanced themselves from DEI!!!

sknath how do you define " abuse "? and most importantly can you recognise the different forms of abuse? Do take an other look at his email to Mr.Ahuja again. For a starter lets examine the salutation.. How would you have addressed the gentleman? keep in mind that this someone unknown to you and is of some importance.... then keep going and you will probable see what Moviezzz is talking about. (Remember no pucnhing below the belt) :D :p
