I'll try and record it, if I'm around that day, found a DVD-Recorder  But doesn't seem it'll be OAR, SonyMax usually crop to around 1.85:1, even then this would be the first time I'll see Mahaan in any wide-screen format - all other versions I remember have been 4:3.

It'll be interesting to see which of the following 3 versions of Mahaan ends up better than the other:

------------------------

Assuming it's a PAL telecine master:

1) Zee TV broadcast: DVD recording of this broadcast should be best one of the three.

2) Zee TV US broadcast: US broadcast will definitely be NTSC converted from PAL and hence a DVD recording will not be as good.

3) NTSC Shemaroo DVD: Same as comment for # 2.

----------------------------

Assuming it's a NTSC telecine master:

In this case, NTSC DVD and Zee TV US broadcast (or DVD recording from US broadcast) should be better than the UK broadcast (or DVD recording from US broadcast).

who cares, its the best quality mahaan to be available. I will definatly buy it no matter the quality of the print. I have a good version of this movie on vhs and its 1.85 ratio, but want a better version on dvd.

This is one of my favourite 80s film of Amithabh that actually has a few good tracks so will be getting this no matter what. Too bad that S. Ramanathans Zamaanat keeps on getting delayed.
