Your absolutely right Shumanji I just meant that it is their own release....and I had a little of Arsh in me at that time since he was also referring to it by saying it was authentic so the word stuck with me :p :D

Going by the screenshots, in my opinion, there is a definite improvement. It appears to have less distracting marks right in the middle of the screen, usually on top of Zeenat Aman's nose in the IAVC version...
:D
But it might not be worth re-investing if you already have the IAVC version

This is the cover of AUTHENTIC, NEW INDEPENDENT SHEMAROO release!

By far the best looking(by exclusion), Great Gambler)

IAVC was authored by SHEMAROO, but uncleaned, unprocessed, then the same IAVC transfer was released under PSEUDO SHEMAROO label, with different cover art..I have seen all 3..but This one is to GO FOR!

*** Man, Music is SO LOVELY..De Ja Vu!!

I need sound track too! :baaa: :p

Asha Bhosle and R D Burman at their best again... I think Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani is probably the most popular song, although my favourite is Tum Kitne Din Baad Mile.

I have CD of Great Gambler with all tracks from Zanjeer and Don too...

Shakti Samanta did his better films with Rajesh Khanna, ie Aradhana, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, Ajnabi and Mehbooba. With Amitabh it was only Barsaat Ki Ek Raat and The Great Gambler. And The Great Gambler was a flop in relative terms.

Barsaat Ki Ek Raat was released by EVP but it does not seem to be available anymore. I recently saw it advertised on the cover of SKY dvd, so a SKY release may be on the way!

Have you seen Mehbooba by WEG? In my opinion its an excellent print, perfect colours and clean transfer. You have to see how beautiful Hema Malini looks as she haunts us in Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon.

EVP titles that I have like Aradhana and Amar Prem are also excellent prints, unfortunately they do mess up the song menu - by omitting or not labelling the songs!

I noticed you have a fear of non-BEI labels... But trust me, titles like Mehbooba and Rajput by WEG will not disappoint you. Both these happen to be on gold media, although I got them from UK...

Our last memories of Manna Dey as Khanna goes crazy on the sitar in Gori Tori Paijaniyan

We compiled a list of EVP's Hindi DVDs but never discovered The Great Gambler in it. Nor did we notice Mehbooba. On the other hand, didn't know of Patthar Ke Sanam either that I found on EVP, by chance, much later.

At one time sunny-audit gave a list of EVP titles acquired by DEI and none of the above 3 films were in it.

Clipper, I think you have confused Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (One Rainy Night) with Baat Ek Raat Ki (About One Night). Just as well, I didn't want a VIDEOSOUND release of that title, SKY will be bad enough - just wish I could find the EVP version...
